The first halfway decent editorial of the season. Every once in a while you've got to read something fun even if you know reality will never permit it.

Noyes: The Sound and the Fury

Definitely a good read. I wonder how many of the current MotoGP racers would flounder without traction control?

Brilliant read Lex !. can`t really add to that except you all know why I and many others love to watch flat track.

I like the audacity of the article. It's out of left field and Noyes knows that other journos won't take him seriously if he writes such reactionary things, yet he did it anyway. The ranks of the Luddites are growing; though, I'm not sure I like the connotations associated with Luddites. People who want to get rid of the electrickery or not really idealistic purists who lack understanding--we simply want the rider to be in control (novel concept) and we want the machines to be mechanical not digital.

If banning traction control is for Luddites, then what of banning automatic transmissions or oval pistons or CRT or any other technology that is currently prohibited?

I particularly liked the 'Ball seeking Bat' analogy. It can be argued that Motorsport is much more complicated and such statements could be considered left field..........I'm not too sure though

Ned Ludd came from very near where I live, and very much unwittingly leant his name to the movement. I suppose the objection was that the imposition of technology and innovation (although it was machinery) was marginalising or otherwise rendering human input redundant - so broadly, it is a fair analogy.

This is the kind of stuff we all love to read. Bravo Noyes.

Bin the TC, put (mandatorily) back the mechanical connection between wrist and throttle!
