Do not know about WSBK back in the 60’s, but we’ve had F1 several times, although it came a couple of years and left and then came and left the same. Moreover, we have several tracks where Nascar, F3 (I think, cause don’t mind much for 4 wheels) and similar races take place but don’t get to be at international TV. In fact, they did have a project for to bring F1 to Cancun, my guess was that with all the cigarette brands not being able to publicize themselves in other countries, and them not having that problem in Mexico they did think of it as an option. However, at the end, it all was flushed and it seems to be just politicians crapping on.
I do practice with my bike at a go-karts’ track (1.1km) nearby with some friends. But it is not the best of times cause I just felt a couple of weeks ago and ‘ended up at the beach’ when in a left turn there wasn’t enough pavement for the speed I was carrying (could have been missed calculation or the hole track wasn’t where I needed it) and had to go to the hospital needing some stitches on my knee (also ended up leaving my bike with no fairing). Fact that made me miss this weekends practice and first local race of ’07. Anyway though, is all right and we have fun, and we get to talk a lot about MotoGP.
