Reading Capirossi's and Rossi's comments in today's MCN about the new 2007 bikes has got me pretty excited. the fact that the ducati is only 0.3s off lap record race pace at the first major test with the world watching is pretty astounding. The yamaha wasn't quite as fast but still just as impressive. Very fast corner speed and 250/500 handling and manouverability seem to be what Loris found, saying that he had to rethink his style to do that blinding lap, and on a bike at the start of it's development. Good bit of PR there from the ducati boys with so many contracts unresolved.

Interesting that he had to adapt his style as if it was a 250, I wonder what riders will have an advantage on the new toy??

If Biaggi does come back, it will certainly suit his style.

That really is great news. I though Ducati would struggle with the new rules, but early signs looks like they might come out on top. Wouldn`t that be great! Not good news for the superbikers though, it looks like the things are turning into 150kg, 200hp 250s.

i thought the irish were always gasious

Just because one rider said its like a 250?
I think all a bit early to make judgements on superbike riders?
It means Hayden is in trouble oh and Vermulen, Edwards, Tamada.
Load of bollocks i think. Its all down to the rider.
Toseland is gonna tear that class apart when he arrives!!!! (in to the first corner and wipes out most of the field) Only joking!
Toseland 1
I would like to see David Knight on a MOTOGP bike. Whos David Knight? World Enduro Champion and the best of road rider in the world by a country mile. Also winner of MOTO 1.
I think he would be within a few seconds of the front riders.

these 2, in particular tamada, are already in trouble. tamadas gone next season anyways. we'll see how hayden & the mole adapt.

yep......... but that was a long, long time ago. he does'nt seem to be able to make his 250 style work for him anyhow
<

Do you think he has tried!
I say again, only ONE rider said it was like a 250.
Rossi says its more nimble, but less power

I agree every rider can adapt it's style of riding. It's all down to the rider. You can't say how superbike rider adapt to motogp 800cc rides. You can't say how honda, yamaha, suzuki, kawasaki will perform and behave on the track so will have to wait and see.It does not mean Hayden, Vermulen, Edwards, Tamada are in trouble.

Loris Capirossi was talking about Ducati GP 7 giving an opinion based on his experience. In terms of weight, manevrability, corner speed etc. He said he had to adapt his style similar to 250cc style and he was quick.
Loris at first test with the 800cc wasn't far in times to the 990cc machine so that must mean something

And once again is nothing confirm about Toseland signing any contracts yet....

a few seconds is a huge gap in motogp!!

And on what do you base this affirmation?

The man is the most naturally gifted motocyclist on the planet.
You should check him out. Check out the destroying this man is doing!
He jumped on a standard bike on a local track near here, and was somwhere in the region 2 tenths of the lap record witin 2 laps . Bear in mind he never rode a road bike on a track.
Nigel beattie is lap record holder on a trick R1. He is top ten TT finisher in the superbike race.
Jon M Balle did it in the early 90s, switched codes.
Look out for the knighter

tamadas in trouble because of his .... performances thru out the season. edwards... well........ he just in trouble.

C.Edwards is basically in the same position as JP Montoya was in in Formula 1. . .look what happened to him.

Toseland 1It is gonna make things more difficult Dion. Any of the guys who are fresh out of 250's or the guys with 500 experience could have a clear advantage. At present it's debatable, but if an 800 turns out to be what we expect, the debate's over. The superbike guys won't even know how they want a bike to feel carrying the extra mph in the turns, only the very talented will adapt quickly. The 250 class will be firmly re-established as THE feeder class for MotoGP.

I don`t think Edwards is about to go and join the NASCAR circuit thoughWhen you need a job........!

race sunday sales monday!
How many 2 stroke machines do you see blasting around.
Kids thats who.
2 strokes are on the way out they. i heard 600 4 strokes where gonna replace 250 2 strokes, and 250 4 strokes to replace 125 2 strokes?
You know of out ?

This whole "ride it like a 250 theory" I'm thinking is turning into a load of BS. Was there BIG advancements that happened from the 05 to 06 season that would have had Max at the top in points if he found a ride this year! That was what always held Max back was his "250 style" everyone has always said.

250s are a dying breed, and I`ve heard they were going to replace them with 600cc 4 strokes, the main reason being that so many domestic series organisers are dropping thier 250 championships in favour of Supersport championships, but 125GP bikes still have a strong base in domestic championships, so I think they`ve still got some life in them. And I heard they would replace 125s with 400cc four strokes... That`s a lot of grunt considering how young and unexperienced some of those riders are, how much power could the squeeze out of a 400 prototype? must be in the vicinity of 100-120. That`s a lot of grunt for a 15 year old with limited experience. If they gotta change the smaller classes to 4 strokes I think it should be 200cc bikes instead of 125s and 400cc bikes instead of 250s. Just because a lot of 125 and 250 riders dont have the experience that MotoGP riders do, and they could really hurt themselves on big-power four strokes.
