CRTs are now a thing of the past...in theory.

Now that the rules to MotoGP have once again changed, yes big shocker, we need to come up with a new name for the sub-category.

http://www.motogp.com/en/news/2013/gp+commission+announcement

The Claiming Rule is gone. I can't really say the teams will be "privateers" as Ducati is looking at using the new rules to enter their Desmosedici under a non-MSMA entry. So what name can we come up with for this new sub-category?

Names that I think are so lame or not really descriptive of the true characteristic of entry and therefore should not even be considered are MSMA entry vs Non-MSMA, Prototype vs Non-Prototype entires, and Factory vs Privateer teams.

Ok, here is my first stab at a name:

- Factories vs GIMPs (Grid Irrelevant Mediocre Position) teams

-Prototypes vs ....s (Completely Uninspiring Notional Teams)

- Honmahas vs ....s (Same Halfassed Inept Teams) and Ducatis

Fuel increased league / low expectation racing?

Maybe you should give them a good name considering what they are, these are mostly machines that were built by people who are nothing but passionate about racing motorcycles and not lucky enough to be working for Honda or Yamaha. They didn't ruin the sport and they haven't been unsafe, they've also given Ducati someone to race.

agree. based on my uneducated opinion, duke + 4 litres of extra fuel and crt tyres might just be a decent combo. add jums mate nicky into the equation and they might just be ok....

A valid and interesting perspective. On one hand, I completely agree. Oh for the likes of Kim on a Konig challenging MVs. On the other hand, this is a two tier / two class championship. The likes of Konig competed in the same class.

How about "whatever Carmelo's current thought bubble is"?

I don't necessarily disagree with Hawkdriver's take though. As he says, if the CRT teams consider it to have been worth their while then it has probably been a good thing. Certainly none of them scrambled to be taken over by Suzuki. The actual claiming rule that they have now abolished and was never to my knowledge tested did seem to be flummery made up on the spur of the moment.

They had to get rid of the CRT rule for Yamaha to start leasing engines to privateers,

I am sure Yamaha would not want anyone (Suzuki)  claiming their engines and taking them apart,

Now we'll have all bikes with potentially the same HP, the factories with 5 engines and the privateers with 12 engines and 4 litres more fuel.

Wide open privateers VS Fuel managed Factories

I think next year will be good

Humor fail, friend.  Look a bit between the lines dude, the joke is on the League...and us if you think about it.  Dorna introduces this ........ grid filler to make up the numbers.  It was not interested in giving passionate people a way to express themselves buddy.  We are pons in an executive suit's game, so they (CRTs) like us participate because we're addicted to the sport.  Like an executive of sporting said in an interview:  "They'd race for free."  Truth is we would watch the series if there were 8 bikes on the grid.  Which in reality this is what we are watching.  But then GP wouldn't actually be sanctioned by the FIM.  The joke is on you and me and the CRTs.

If they were ALL CRTs then it would be closer to an authentic competition, which is the point that you missed.  By letting in teams saying hey, build you own chassis and throw in a standard motor, who do you is doing who a favor?  Anyway, getting back to your point that the CRT crews are "passionate" people and should be respected, so then are the crew members of Honda and Yamaha and their satellites not as passionate?  The truth is despite the lack of scrutiny and report, that the CRT is scandalous and a blatant manipulation of the series to make it appear viable.  The fact they changed the rule in haste, as they did with the rookie rule, as a convenience should also make you take pause about the integrity of the sport.

So, then come up with a humorless name for the ........ sub-category filled with passionate pons.

SCAM vs WCCTB

I like it.  So then SCAMs (Shameless Carmelo Accommodating Manufactures)  vs WCCTB (Whatever Carmelo's Current Thoughts Bubble) teams

I know you are looking for a fun name but really they should just be called "Moto1" bikes.

So MotoGP vs Moto1?  Or you saying the entire category should be called Moto1?  If so, then how do you intend to distinguish between the sub-category of 21 vs 24 liter of fuel, 5 v 12 engine limit, 2 option vs 3 option tires, and proprietary ECU vs Dorna issued ECU?

Jum you have missed it buddy, people think the CRTs were a class filler and whilst it worked out that way it was not the intention, Carmelo was loosing his championship through financial and political problems and he thought he would have massive trouble with Honda and then Yamaha so he created a new class so if Honda spat the dummy and Yamaha followed he would still have a race series. that's why we have CRT.

Agree in part sir. There was an element of getting rid of the strong arm tactics of HRC for a series more under the control of Dorna. But whats the reality? Are HRC gone? No. And now the Claming Rule gone as soon as HRC and Yam proposed providing engines. That is my friend, the ONLY rule disappearing is the one that the manufacturers need gone. Kinda reminds me of the disappearance of the rookie rule when Marc needed it gone. Make no mistake my friend, HRC /(and Yam)'s influence is in good hands.
