more stuff for the motogp .... pot.....

and what makes them think that some stupid brits wont find a way onto the track there and put everyone in danger?

looks like another perfect point and squirt track to suit ducati.

story:

AN INSIDE source in the MotoGP racing scene has confirmed this afternoon that Silverstone will host the British Motorcycle Grand Prix from 2010.
Last year Visordown gave you the inside line that the move from Donington Park to the Northamptonshire-based circuit was on the cards. Today we can confirm the move is definite.

The news comes following this morning's announcement that Donington Park is to gain Formula One.

So it's all change then. Should make for great MotoGP racing

I love this part. I guess some myths are hard to die once they have infected the willing mind.

(ie.: religion, cults, santa clause, tooth-fairy, etc)

Leaving Donny for Silverstone is .........

What I mean is that I like Donnington Park more than Silverstone.

yes but obviously they only have point and squirt tracks in Britain.

ie. by your reasoning ......... since Ducati have Donnington sewn up the last few years ........ I guess its also a point and squirt track.

Donny is about to be .......ised anyway, & Silverstone is closer to where I live. shrug.

Kinda like the FIA and Ferrari.

Seems that the myth makers do not like the Italians. They win, but people cannot realize that Ferrari/Ducati are just better at the time, and not some cover-up conspiracy to take over the world.

Me too. And it'll be even better after they finish this redevelopment.

Plus it's only about 30 miles away, with Silverstone being almost 100.

I guess they will really miss the mud, overflowing porta-poties and jet fuel residue...

3 things that have pissed me off in the last few months

Getting rid of the 250 strokers

Kwack abandoning ship

Saying goodbye to Toby, Julien and Mr Mamola

and now this....WTF. Silverstone is .... and donny is only 30 mins down the M1 for me.
As soon as Vale retires thats it. ....the end.

Agree with most of that particularly the loss of Eurosport coverage. Doni is just up the road from me too, but I don't agree that Silverstone is ..... The full circuit is fast and flowing and when it was used by WSB (before they downgraded to the go-cart circuit) produced some great racing. It is not however a spectators track like Donington was, and is a complete liability in the wet due to standing water/crap drainage.

I think most people are on that boat with you.

yeah probably a bit harsh although it is from a spectating point of view like you said.

l'm angry because for the last few years me and my kids have always gone to donny for the whole 4 days (inc the riders for health day) and always had a great time. Drive down in the morning and home again at night. Then back again the next day.....great stuff. ..........wont be happening if and when it moves to silverstone though. Probably race day and thats yer lot!

I think they should race at Silverstone especially if they KEPT donnington to keep bolstering the sport which is dying fast.

I hate Donington. . .but i hate Silverstone even more!

it's bad enough going to Silverstone for British Superbikes, i'd dread to think how it is for Moto GP. i hate having to be sat in a grandstand all day, i prefer tracks where i can take my fold up chair and spread out!

Never been to Donny or Silver, but this is bad news then because I like spectator friendly tracks. I hate it when you see like one turn and that is it.

WTF Roger? Can anything be done about this? 2010 was the year I was gonna make it out to the BritGP.

You know what I meant.

Many parts of Silverstone were taken flat out with an F1 car. There is like 2 passing zones. You have the straight leading to Stow, and Abbey, if! If they use the chicane coming off Club Corner straight. Of not, then really there is no legit passing areas. The first corner is alot like the final corner at Barcelona. Fast, but not really a passing area. The esses will be hard to take even side by side.
