It's been going downhill for years with more and more electronics and less and less bikes. The CRT thing is completely pointless, it's just turn MoToGP into F1 where you have the top teams, middle teams and then the crap ones that never finish the race. F1 got rid of the expensive blown Diffuser tech this year and it's made for amazing racing, new winner every race and all the teams seem so close you cannot predict races. I mean it's been the closest and best year in F1 since I can remember.

MotoGP needs to do the same, they need to ditch all the fancy electronics and put more limits on what the teams can do. It's obvious what is holding the teams back from being at the front, most if it comes from the electronics. Teams aren't interested in spending lots of money never to win because they just don't have quite enough.

Right now it's clear there are only two guys ever going to win that Championship (Lorenzo and Stoner) and with the Honda being better than the Yamaha I doubt Lorenzo is in for a chance this year. Rossi might as well not be there as he cannot ride the Ducati, though nore can anyone else but Stoner. Rossi for me needs to be in the sport and winning for me wanting to watch it, everyone is too nice to each other and so they give each other room and race nicely. With Rossi racing they all desperately seem to hate him and want to beat him and Rossi brings the mind games that gets them angry and makes the racing even better to watch as they all try and push 110%.

I loved Marco Simoncelli last year, it was like having Rossi back at the front, they all hated him and he made the racing exciting. Lorenzo and Stoner always whining about him being too aggressive and Marco just laughing and calling them cry babies, it was great! If Lorenzo and Stoner get their way MotoGP will be so boring and clean, tbh that isn't why I loved the sport in the first place.

Marco was my last hope for the sport without them restricting electronics, now he's gone and Rossi isn't racing for wins on the Ducati I just don't see the point in watching. It's been very boring for the past few years and so far this year has been the worst. As I'm young Rossi got me into watching the sport because he seemed to bring out the fire behind the eyes in every rider, with him down the grid it's just too nice.

They need to do something to make the bikes more level so more teams invest in MotoGP and the talent is able to come through. Until then I just cannot watch another race MotoGP has become really boring.

Good first post - now .... off back to lala land.

I don't understand what people's expectations were going into this season. During 2010 and 2011, it was quite common for Lorenzo and Stoner to control the race from 5 seconds in front. In 3 races this season, we've not seen anything resembling the 2010 or 2011 season. Every message board and journo site went to great pains to remind everyone that the racing would still suck, and Ezpeleta was convinced that Honda's technology would render the 2012 season a complete mockery.

Honestly, I was expecting 2012 to be a throwaway season, and I thought the manufacturers were just buying time so they could stall their way through the financial crisis. Thanks to BS, the season has been much better than I was anticipating. Estoril was boring, but I've never been a fan of Estoril anyway.

This bold bit doesn't do you any favours. Sure we all would prefer more overtaking at the front & I agree about the electronics. But it seems to me you will only be happy if Valentino wins.

Not exactly a fan of the sport then.

We have many Brits on this forum so this question is to them.

I read that the BSB have dumped TC & electronics in the series this year. We don't get to see the races here very often so I'm in the dark.

Has this decision spiced up the racing? Is there a lot more overtaking? Is there a lot more accidents?

Where do lap times sit this year compared to last? Any help appreciated as the concept sounds bloody good to me. Sorry for going off topic a bit

The problem is having two factory prototype teams at the front, with a big gap to sat teams, and then CRT at the back 4 sec a lap off the pace. Yamaha and Repsol Honda will win every race this year and probably Stoner and Lorenzo will win every race this year.

I'm not against the idea of CRT, but really think MotoGP needs to be all one category (prototypes or all CRT) - but if its all CRT why not just watch WSBK, which are probably faster and have better racing.

Never thought I would admit this, but I'm almost thinking MotoGP needs to be axed and merged into WSBK, and WSBK become the premier class, with the option of teams also building their own hybrid (CRT style) bikes.

I still believe the problem for MotoGP is not the costs, its the lack of money in.

DORNA need to be making more money and subsidising the teams more, to make running a team a viable business model, attracting business people to come in for the commercial gains. Unfortunately loosing the biggest personality in the sport will not assist with this.

You and your ilk is whats wrong with Moto GP, Now, go fandango yourself

Nothing wrong with that, that is how fans work, in many sports, hockey, futball, etc. When their team is out they stop watching.

OP agree with you on Simoncelli. So much promise and a very entertaining competitor.

Some have lots of fans:

Some are also great but only have a few fans:

Don't blame the fans.

6 races, 6 different winners, 6 different riders set fastest lap, 5 different pole winners. BSB has been a big success, imo.

The electronics were only part of the big picture, though. BSB also banned most of the factory engine internals, and they imposed a fixed rev limit that has lowered the rev ceiling. Most of the teams can build competitive equipment so the racing is quite fierce.

BSB have found a really good rule set for SBK racing, imo. Ducati is still the problem b/c I don't think they can run big bore twins with aluminium internals, but maybe the SBKC will figure something out. I don't think the racing will be quite as equal on the fast international circuits, but the rules concept is great. Much better accessibility for everyone, only the factory swingarm poses a challenge for some teams.

Thanks Lex I just download one of the latest BSB torrents to check it out.

The field was still very spread out, but there was some passing so that's a good thing.

Didn't see anyone come off either so it wasn't particularly unsafe. There are at least ideas in that series that should be looked at in motogp.

The sticking point will be the 3 remaining manufacturers. Lets hope Dorna are looking at the series with keen interest as regards to the future.

Please don't post again! One was enough. If you don't like GP because Rossi isn't winning than find another sport. Pick whatever team is leading and go troll the appropriate message board...

What hasn't been so much of a success is their ridiculous scoring system. Unless they get that sorted out it will remain a mockery.

I have been a fan for most of a decade and a half, but they lost me last year... the best riders didn't win, because of the stupid damned scoring system! It will be the same this year.

So let me get this straight... you want it so that everyone wins?

Sorry, just like Highlander - there can be only one.

As to the rest of your dribble, CRT is designed to give you exactly what you are whinging about - more bikes, more competition.

I suspect you would do better if you removed your head from your arse BEFORE posting...

Yeah, it's a joke. I refer to the end of the season as the Showbiz.

However, I understand why they created the Showdown, and I admire that MSVR are willing to take chances and use creative rulemaking to solve problems. I wouldn't have discarded FIM scoring to chase a buck, but I'm not a money crazed enertainment executive with 2 dozen customers who are willing to do anything to increase start money in a bad economy.

I'm not sure what problem they were trying to solve. BSB is very popular. Both as an attendance event and as a TV event.

If they had a problem, it wasn't due to the scoring system.

I have been to a few BSB and WSBK events at the same venue. It is noticeable which is which. Any problem they have could be solved with management and marketing... While I understand that BSB doesn't have the advertising budget that WSBK does, personally I have only seen a similar amount - i.e., little. If WSBK has a massive advertising and promotion budget, they aren't spending it getting people to the ground, they are spending it getting people to watch on TV.

The facilities are the same, but the organisation for BSB is noticeably more amateur.

I don't think BSB were trying to solve a problem, more get the costs down in the current economic climate.

Of course you are going to get a noticeably difference in the crowds, WSBK is international, people fly in from other countries and been a world sport has a huge following to the BSB where it is mostly just the british people attending. No doubt if you compare AMA meetings to WSBK you will find a difference there too.

I don't see any problems with CRT bikes...electronics is part and parcel of today Motorsports..
