Dorna moves engine maintenance and inspection from neutral Switzerland to Alcañiz Spain. Saw it on the local news today.

Correct. Geo Tech who had the contract were asking way too much, and IRTA didn't think about it. Now, ExternPro (in Aragon) have the contract. It's part of a deal to keep the race at the circuit, where a company at the track gets the contract, and that means the circuit can afford to pay more to host the race...

And they can make sure the spot on engines go where they would like them?

Something about this has a nasty smell.

When does it come into affect?

I'm a bit unsure about this,

Will be watching to see if Pol suddenly gets better,

Lets face it Dorna ply what they want in this series,

Just look at them paying part of Rossi's wage to get him on the Yam.

Summat stinks I tell you!!!

Relax red , engines are allocated through some sort of lottery. Riders draw numbers or something like that.

Yeah Lil Red, take off that tin foil hat.  Its a totally random allocation, just like World Superbike tires.

Actually, more like MotoGP tires. And they've been doing the engines since Le Mans.

Closer look at some Moto2 kit. From Grenisi via Wilairot...

Please don't let facts get in the way of a good conspiracy.

Speaking of Moto2 engines, in some ways I wish that they were full racing engines. Couldn't they make it that the engines for the series are:

Moto3: 250cc single cylinder

Moto2: 500cc twin cylinder

MotoGP: 1000cc four cylinder

By developing the regulations for all three series to make the engines more similar, wouldn't it make it easier for engine suppliers to produce engines for all three series?

Like they used to have

125cc / 250cc / 500cc

gp engines are way too high tech to just saw the crankshaft in half and have "cheap" versions of the bigger engnies.

one must also ask themselves why you would even want that. i kinda like that moto2 is more akin to the red bull rookies than the aprilia cup, at least in terms of the machinery being more or less equal.

Yes, a system such as that would need additional regulations to limit technology. As long as we have competition in the top level, it's not so bad. But what if both Yamaha and Ducati withdraw (or become uncompetitive)?

then i'm over the moon because since ducati went the conventional way i could really care less about the different motorcycles and all the .... that reduces the spectacle.

is moto3 better off because we see jack miller (who i adored since his national championship days)  stuck on a honda?makes for some nice "oh look at how great he's doing on that POS" moments but overall just annoys me he hasn't got the ufll ktm kit

i'm of the unpopular opinion that the sport ,at least in this day and age, would be much much better off if we saw everybody compete on the same bike.(that of course doesn't mean i'm all for honda dominating, but i'd be happy if dorna in a hypothetical scenario made a deal with say yamaha to supply the grid with 2005 spec m1s, or 1998/2003 spec r1s, who gives a ..... the harder to ride the better). why not at least make that happen in the FEEDER series.its not like we're living in the 80s where the smaller classes had actually something to do with the road bikes. moto3 and 2 shoudl just be about showcasing the talent and getting the best of them to gps.

no difference in machinery,no difficulties to end up on the right seat..

champs in moto3 and moto2 guaranteed to move up because there is no direct factory involvement. im sure at least poggiali would agree with me

one can dream....

peace homies

I agree will the sentiment, but in the 80s, the smaller bikes had Zero to do with a roadbike. Have a look at an RG250, then an NSR250 (proper one)

...doesn't even figure in the 125s / 80s

people my age use the 80s as a figure of speech. could just as well have said in the 1950s.

kreidler rennflorett ftw
