Thanks for the memories. Even though i was not a fan of yours, i respected your abilities and grew to admire you even more in the last 4 years when you fought tooth and nail against who might prove to be one the best SB riders ever. I also appreciate your stand against DMG for destroying the sport i love so much. Have a great retirement, you earned it.

Wow, not a complete shocker as we all could of assumed it was happening soon, just didn't expect the announcement during the season. Perhaps the safety fiasco at Topeka has caused him to make this announcement now?

Mladin, a very talented, hard working superbike racer, who has achieved what so many of us only can dream of. I've always felt that he was above the AMA in talent and his multiple wins and championships certainly proves it. I wished he would have moved to a more competitive series and challenged himself more, but the AMA was the game he chose to play. Many things he has said I have agreed with and many things I have not, but I do respect him for having his say. Best of luck in your retirement.

Well said, guys. Whether you agreed with what he said, or not, he always called things as he saw them.

Also, notice he said he was retiring from AMA racing. I wonder...

Who knows, people come out of retirement all the time. I could see him being very competitive in WSBK.

I hope he stays in the AMA and works diligently with the tracks to improve runoff and safety in the United States.

In typical Mladin fashion, I wouldn't be surprised to see him bow out and then carpet bomb what remains of the AMA via media outlets.

I'm grateful for what the guy did with his helmet on. He was a great rider and a fierce competitor who raised the bar in AMA competition. I'm not grateful for what he does when his helmet is off.

DMG deserves every bomb dropped on their sorry .... Im estatic that he calls DMG out when they put their payday above riders safety. Someone at the race track yesterday reported that he would be suprised if there was 100 people there. Sucks for the riders and promoter but come negotiating time next year, old RE aint gonna have a leg to stand on.

The biggest problem with bike racing in the US is that most of the track owners don't care about bikes. They are all for the 4 wheeled racing though. I envy the love of 2 wheeled racing that other countries have and the coverage they have for it. From what I've seen, they don't let the bikes take a back seat to other racing.
