Mika Kallio’s “off-track problems”

This has been mentioned repeatedly (in hushed secretive tones, via Nick/Gavin/Ian.)



What is the problem? I'm not able to tease anything out of Google/Bing, or find anything here via search.



What exactly was/is the off-track problem they keep referring to?
 
Well, I haven't been able to follow the sport properly because of being in the army, but all I know is that in a Finnish radio interview Kallio said something about having lost motivation for racing after, I think it was, the Aragon GP. He even hinted at not being sure if he was going to go on with racing after this season.



I suppose the combination of crashes and lack of speed this season has really affected him. Don't know if there is something going on in his personal life or anything like that...
 
Gavin E and Nick H were chattering about Kalio in the Quali. It didn't sound like it was an off track problem, and I think they were mentioning that it was like Melandri all over again. ie. The Ducati breaks riders spirits. They were speaking in hushed and reserved and pitying tones though which makes me wonder what the "feeling" about the Ducati is within the paddock.
 
DIdn't he break up with his partner? Early this year or during the season? To be honest I've lost interest in Kallio and been concentrating on the front runners/other classes. They were mentioning today that he may not do the last two races of season (with Checa coming in) and to be me that would be a relief to take Kallio out of his misery!
 
Off track Problems...I have wondered about this as well. I heard the commentators speak of it but I didn't see- "His Partner" coming up. Really the Flying Finn broke up with his partner? I can't say I saw that coming. <Shrug> To each his own..



I didn't catch anything that suggested that it was in his head ala Melandri. Alas when focused the Finn was a terror on the 250cc and on the GP bike he could give Nicky a run for his money.



I hope he gets his head back on straight.
 
There was something in the papers in Finland a while back about a breakup. I didn't get to read it so not sure exactly what it was saying - just got a mention from my wife about it at the time.
 
This led to this, which didn't help much, so I posted the question to his PR guy on his website contact here



I suppose if it is truly personal, then I'm being an .... Oh well.



The announcers have mentioned this multiple times over the last few months, and the intonation was that definitely off-track happenings/situations were resulting in on-track performance issues.



They were so careful not to get into details, so many times over again, that it seems to me to have to be something rather delicate.



Unfortunately, without knowing, we are left to imagine: caught for illegal gambling (betting against himself), under aged ..... (boys?), drugs, dog fighting, caught on tape being whipped by 6 foot tall blonde Nazi hookers, breaking up with gay partner billionaire who is the heir to the throne of Finland...



We have to stop these rumors. What is the real story? Will the real Mika Kallio please stand up! Put that PR man to work.





 
I tease Kalio alot, some if it hes brot on himself by not admitting fault when hes crashed. But honstly, i think Pramac r runing the worst machines in the paddock.

His off track problem, is his off track problem, as in he spends more time off track than on.

If so, where does that leave all the people who say Stoner can't ride for ...., and its all the bike.

Personally I think the Ducati is OK.

I think the bikes are are fairly even in capability. It comes down to the individual set up, understanding the bike, and the rider feeling comfortable to push the limit.
