Marquez: Sepang in past, focus on Valencia

The crowd reaction to Rossi will for me will be a point of interest....will Rossi get booed in the same way JLo got treated in Sepang last weekend?

Being that the race is in Spain it could get ugly....

The press conference on Thursday should be grand. I hope the my sit next to each other... Or at least put JL between them.. Have a little pissed off racer sandwich..

I hope Rossi apologizes for his actions in Sepang at the Thusday press conference. I still think they're both at fault, but Rossi should apologize.

Well thats a constructive contribution to the thread. Bravo Devolution, your mother would be proud....

I hope VR punches him in the teeth in prime time

MM and VR still have to be able to race each other on the most powerful bikes in the world at over 200 mph. They cannot continue to do that with this huge grudge. They don't have to be friends, but they can't keep blaming each other when things don't go their way. If Marc really did tell his manager that he blames Rossi for Argentina and Assen, he needs to get over that ....... neither of those incidents were Rossi's fault. If Rossi feels Marc was toying with him at PI, he needs to get over it... he should've had a faster pace.

They were always destined to clash because they're too much alike! Both of them are savage competitors on the track and will race anyone to the limit and beyond. Fans adore them because they bring so much excitement to the sport. Lorenzo is fast, but doesn't like to dog fight. Pedrosa is often timid (which is why we were surprised at his Aragon performance). But MM and VR put people on the edge of their seats, no other factory riders (except maybe Iannone) would have fought the way they did for the first 7 laps at Sepang... they had everyone not wanting to blink and forgetting to breathe! F1 race at COTA... what's that???

They have to get to back to a point where they can race each other without everything being so heavily scrutinized. Now if one of them makes an honest mistake that results in taking out the other, the masses will never believe it wasn't done on purpose. I think Rossi is mostly to blame for that because he should've kept his feelings about MM toying with him at PI to himself and his team. If MM still holds a grudge for Argentina and Assen, he was at least holding that grudge behind the scenes and not telling the media.

Wow, Moto, you are actually coming round and beginning to talk sense. Good post.

How perfect is this for MM and HRC? Jlo is not going to race for the win if VR is at the back of the grid, so one of the HRC boyz will likely win. I'd be looking forward if I were MM too, but this is going to be one boring race. Maybe MM will put Dani down if he gets in the way like he did last year?

*Yawn*

I wonder if Marquez will keep slowing down when they walk into the Press Conference?

....... Would buy a MM shirt if he came out first and kept slowing down and speeding up making the other run into each other...

Oh .... that would be funny... Saturday Night Live ...... (I guess Monty Python or Bennie Hill for you folks across the pond).

What I'm pondering is, given the varying opinions heard from other MGP racers about the incident - there has to be a question of how different riders will treat Rossi coming from the back of the grid.

You can be sure that while many riders won't say it to the press, they have thought to themselves, if that little prick Marquez went out of his way to screw with their chances to win a tenth championship, they'd have run him off the track too.

Then there is the "Rossi is the GOAT" thing and a lot of riders still hold him in great esteem.

Then factor in the thought that when Rossi does retire, he will continue to have great influence in the sport and anyone who in any way supports his efforts could reap rewards further down the line.

And lastly, there are a lot of former Moto 2 riders who still hate Marquez's guts.

If this was just a normal race weekend - we could all assure ourselves that everybody would be "racing their own race" regardless of what was going on up at the front, but it ain't just any race weekend.

I'm not saying it's going to be like police code of silence thing, but between the good relationships between Rossi and the widespread dislike of Marquez - I wouldn't be surprised if some riders let Rossi through, if for no other reason than a lot of riders want to see Rossi have a chance to dice it out fair and square with Lorenzo.

Or maybe everybody will just ride their own race.

Mate, big kudos to you for saying that given (with no offence at all) the level of defence that you have published in this place regarding the incident and VR.

Seriously big and full credit

Yes ............ and no.

I would usually go full on Yes it should be in private but at the same times, Rossi went very public with the suggestions and allegations.

To me, a private and genuine apology followed by a more public one at the media conference.

However, as he is the one who believes that he deserves the apology I doubt that he would deliver one, and even if he did will it be taken as genuine or grandstanding?

I wonder if Marquez will keep slowing down when they walk into the Press Conference?

May depend on who is behind him but even better if he trips and falls down whilst doing it :D

If we are realistic about it, there will be no issues given that Rossi has both the bike and the skill that will leave 15 or so of the bikes behind very quickly.

I do expect some to let him through (and ask the hordes if that is not also 'race fixing') whilst I expect others to fight as they would any other rider before they succumb to the speed of the factory bike.

The further reality is that he does not have to win the race and nor does he (more will he) need to finish second as I simply cannot see JL taking the risks for first, no matter how much I would like to see him do so.

Rossi will ride based on his pit board information which will be all about JL, there will not be laptimes or gaps but rather JL #4 etc

After all, Rossi enters the final round in front in the title (one woudl think given posts he is way behind) but in essence he is starting 30 or so metres back, no more.

Well when he punched Max at Catalunya, (the infamous mosquito bite), reliable witnesses - including some of Rossi's entourage - attest to the fact that Gibo Badioli held Biaggi's hands behind his back. So he's a dirty cheating ....... off the track too.

I also suspect that Valentino Rossi's pugilistic potential is about as formidable as Marc's reach..but at least MM is the right height to land a perfectly deployed .... punch eh Sparrah? what d'ya reckon?
