Marc confirms he'll be staying in Moto 2 another year. He had offers for GP, but decided to stay another year as he feels he is quite young to to to GP. When he entered Moto 2 the teams plan was to stay 2 years and they are going to continue with that plan.

He has stated many times his desire to get to GP next year. Like Krop said, Repsol wanted him back in Moto 2 with the number 1 plate , so thats where he is staying. Personally, i think its a waist of time and could actually be counter productive. There is very little crosses over from a Moto 2 bike to a GP bike and the faster you can leave that series the better to keep from developing bad habits. Not to mention the risk of injury in a series that promotes fender banging racing with spec engines. Wouldnt it be funny if he doesnt win the number 1 plate. Maybe then, Repsol would send him on to GP

If he stays in M2, I think its a good call. He's obviously fast, but a year's experience of racing and more importantly, life, can do him good.

I think he stayed not because of sporting reasons, but because there were issues with Honda regarding support, team structure etc. that couldn't be reconciled. See GPOne.

Google translate, but you get the idea.

In Italy it was discussed recently, because with Valentino Rossi and Ducati have our own fish to fry, but in Spain - Lorenzo out of the fight for the title - the hot topic is the passage or not of the MotoGP Marc Marquez next year.

Sponsored by Caixa and Repsol by the young Spaniard is getting crazy media coverage at home and, perhaps, at this point has really thought of being ready to go to challenge Pedrosa in his house. The rest of the reasoning is correct: with the new 1000, given the current regulation, should run in a satellite team. It would be so ready, at the end of 2012 to "pull out" from under the buttocks to the RC213V of Dani coming in its own right in the official HRC team.

The problem is that Honda does not want.

"Marquez wants to run with his team, his sponsors - said a spokesman for the Honda - but this is not possible. If you want to compete with LCR would be his business there the bike .... But it is not possible at the moment a fifth. And then a champion like Marc to join a team, to be paid, not to run with its own structure. "

Beyond the metaphor: there ready for him a place in the Repsol-Honda, but in due course.

This is why Marc Marquez still run in 2012 Moto2 World Champion or not.

Marquez is still really young, and it makes sense for him not to rush it to MotoGP. Nobody that I can remember was as strong as him at that young age. He's clean and fast like Pedrosa, but more of a fighter. Let him run for another title, that's also good preparation for a champion like him and something he will not to be able to taste in his first two years in MotoGP against the current field.

Just wondering tho with not moving up to a non factory team (rookie rule) him staying in moto 2 will mean he wo9n be able to bag a factory ride when all the main factory riders contracts are up at the end of next year or would they just supply him with one?

I do think its bull hoim staying in moto 2 just hope theres a challenger for the title next year!

It might be best for him to stay in Moto2 another year, but as a fan, I want to see him in the big class. The sooner he bumps Pedro, the better.

Agree with this. I do wonder though if there's any possibility of having an all-Spanish Marquez-Pedrosa team in MotoGP in the next couple of years?

Whats happening with his younger brother Alex. There was talk of him hitting Moto2 in 2012. Apparently, he has more natural talent than Marc

I heard somewhere that he'll be in moto3, alongside the guy he's been battling all year in Spain

Think about that for a second: Marquez wins the 125cc title as a 17 year old in astonishing style, then makes the fierce competition in Moto2 look flaccid...as an 18 year old. I don't know how one could demonstrate more 'natural talent', realistically.
