Weber

I managed to chat to him for 5 minutes at the motgp at Phillip Island.

He is a champion bloke and a real easy going person, at motogp he spent most of his day wandering around the general admission area and doesn't present with any of that nose in the air snobbishness that some sports stars can.

Here's wishing him a speedy recovery.

thanks for the news some unlucky chit happens alleged broken leg/serious injuries

Ford said the Australian driver was competing in his own charity event, the Mark Webber Pure Tasmania Challenge, a 280-kilometre challenge using mountain bikes, kayaks and trekking, when the accident happened.
Event director Geoff Donohue said he could not confirm reports that Webber had suffered multiple arm and leg fractures until doctors had a chance to properly diagnose the Australian driver.

"It would appear he's suffered a fractured leg but until doctors confirm the extent of Mark's injuries, we won't know for sure - it's still early days," Donohue told Australian Associated Press.

All the best for him and hoping for a speedy recover. I've always liked him.

From Crash.net:

Mark Webber has undergone surgery on a broken right leg following an accident during his own charity event in Tasmania.

The Red Bull Racing driver was airlifted to hospital after a head-on collision with a car during the latest cycling leg of the annual Mark Webber Pure Tasmania Challenge.

Having undergone examinations in hospital, the broken leg now appears to be the only major injury, with Geoff Donohue – the director of the charity event – stating that the 32-year-old was in good spirits.

"The surgery is complete, a pin inserted and the recovery begins," he told the BBC. "Mark's in good spirits. The broken leg is the injury, and beyond that, he's in really good shape.

"He has a little bit of a graze on his left forearm, but he has had full scans and everything else is clear.

"He'll be in hospital for at least three days, for sure under a week. I was speaking to him before the operation, and he was already thinking about his rehabilitation."

Webber is now set to miss the Formula One group test due to be held at Jerez next month but Dononhue said he expected the Australian to make a quick recovery.

"That [Jerez] date obviously will be an issue," he said, "but I suspect that as soon as Mark is able to fly, they will be keen to get him back to Europe.

"They will have people working out his rehab programme now with a view to getting him up and going as soon as possible."

Wishing you a speedy recovery Mark...
