From what I have read the final changes being made to Laguna Seca are finishing up. These changes include further run off in turn one and six, a new media center and a layout change in the run from turn six to the corkscrew. From my understanding, the track has been leveled out so the enterance to the corkscrew is more level with better visability so it is no longer a blind enterance. The enterance was changed because of certain riders complaining of the blind nature of the corner. Nicky Hayden had the following to say about the change:
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>I think it's a pretty weak move, really. That's kind of what made the Corkscrew special, was it was blind, and it had a dip, and you had to get over it without wheelieing. Now it's just a little straight, a little corner just like anyplace else in the world. I'm not - that's what made it cool. Nonetheless, it's still, the Corkscrew's still good, but I'd have just as soon left it the way it was. I really liked the lead-up to it, the blind way, and how you kind of had to lean it right and then left. It was just a real rider's section. A guy that was on it through there could make up a lot of time.
I haven't seen it yet but hearing about that really bums me out. The run up to the 'screw is such a cool portion, so flowing and gutsy. Guys who really have the track dialed make up so much time through there. Guys like Edwards, Hayden, Zemke and the Bostroms. It's really too bad they've leveled it, the rises and falls of the track are what set it apart from other tracks around the world.
