Laguna Seca first GP

I give him the whole safety speech then go into my instructions on primary marksmanship. Lil Red starts popping of rounds. My two buddies and I are like, yo this guy is a ....... natural. We retrieve his target and inspect his groupings. And we are like, yo that is tight (the bullet holes are all near each other). Which means he is aiming and hitting the same spot, that is good shooting. We are patting him on the back and ..... Then later the MF whispered in my ear...I've done this before. Well ...., thanks a lot. Had I know I would have taken him to the strip club to see tities. .... me.

Shooting at targets is fun, I used to be quite a good shot when I did that. Then again my Dad was a marksman when he did National Service, I must have got it from him.

After the range we headed back to the home stead to freshen up.


Out then to Lazydogs I think it was called for a feed


Thursday.


I had a lazy morning reading my book.


Jumks and his wife were at work, and the baby sitter took the two boys out.


I sat in the back garden drinking coffee reading and having the occasional cheeky toke


Just after Midday Jumks is back and we are hitching the trailer.


Load the last few bits, Albert arrives and away we go.


Just one stop for fuel and another to pick up some mexican flavoured beef! (more, much more about that later)


So we are on our way, we make contact with the bike shop guy's and they set off too.


So we are plodding along till we hit a set of hills (I forgot the name) and it's baking hot outside.


"Oh .... we are overheating" said Jumks.


Faaaark! We pull off and let the truck cool down, check coolants, fans on full, you know the .....


We let it cool and try to set off again,


No good the temp starts to rise again and we still have many many miles to go.


Jumks calls the bike shop guys, they are just behind us so we park up and hope their hitch fits the trailer.


While we were waiting I spied a taco place and was in like flynn


Well it would be rude not to lol.


And they were really good taco's. Even Jumks gave them a seal of approval and had seconds too!


The bike guys arrive and thankfully the trailer fits, Their truck is a beast and has no problems taking it to Guna.


So we are off again, without the trailer our truck is running fine. We make a detour to meet a couple selling us their tix.


Meet them, Great couple, both ride and are sacrificing their trip because the dog sitter blew them out at the last minute.


But seemed quite chuffed a Brit would be using one of them.


Back on the road for the last leg of the journey, We hit the town nearest to the track and meet up with the other guys, it is just dropping dark.


We have a bite at a fast food place then head up to the campsite and our pitch.


Trailer positioned tents up and brazier lit, beers all round, we were there, and we were fcuked it is quite a journey.

After our brief but important visit to my buddy's shop, we got Red situated in the royal suite. Lazy Dog's is a great place. We all had the beer sampler. Turns out Red and I hate every beer except one. The IPA we agreed was sewerage. Then it was off to Laguna in the morning. Took us all day but my buddys saved the day when they helped us tow my trailer. We got there close to midnight. Its occurred to me no matter how much preparation I make or how early u leave, its inevitable, I will get there close to midnight Thursday night. Oh but in the morning its all glory.

Despite keeping the fire going it was freezing. The first night was miserable. I hadnt been this cold since...well since Shiverston 2011. Heisman was cuddling with Red to stay warm. Hell, I even covered up my Nicky gear with some TechTwat hoody courtesy of Red. Yes the ....... local boy went unprepared. I figured teeshirts and shorts would do just fine. Rolled up and it was cold as a polar bears .... But we got through it. I woke up a bit sick. Soar throught but a few beers in the morning cured all that. Friday morning started off with fog on the track. It burned by noon. But if U've ever been to a GP event u know weather is of no consequence. Ur just happy to be alive.

Well part of tge reason we froze was because i couldn't start the heater. As luck would have it, my Honda generator, normally bulketproof failproof, decided the coldest night it would take a .... on me. In the morning the greatest mechanical minds were hard at work fixing the thing. By days end they did get it to work thanx to my buddy Richard & Cesar.

Friday mornings breakfast was menudo. Its a typical Mexican breakfast. If U've never had it I highly recommend. Heisman had no problem eating it but lil Red wouldnt touch the stuff. Why, I have no idea because everyone else ate it and came back for seconds. In 08 I served this for Chopper man. He tried it at least. Yeah he later said he really didnt have the 'stomach for it...but he at least tried it. Its cow intestines in a stew with hominy. Slighly spicy. Ate with corn tortillas. .... im getting hungry just thinking about it. Best ate with a Tecate beer.

Lil Red kept yelling every time this black bike passed. Only to be met by yelling when the red bike passed. Meanwhile my buddy was having 3rds of menudo. I cant describe to u how much awesome it is to roll out of the sac to bikes on the track. (Disclaimer all pics im posting taken with my mobile fone and posted using the ...... droid tapatalk app.)

After FP1 it warmed up a bit. My buddy broke out the watermelon. It was a good one. U can see Heisman in tbe background with his Florida Gators gear. For a bopper I never once saw him wear any Yellow Army fatigues. Must be like J4rno I guess. Undercover bop. About noonish they had the parade lap. Ah good memories. In 08 I took a lap with Chopper man, dragging knees and .... down the Screw.


Our buddy who is actually a PS long lost member here as LorenzoFan, yes thats right, the PS member who used to post here years ago...well he came thru with a couple of pit passes. He got us in and thats where I interviewed Krops love child.

Well really the only GP star I wanted to see was Nicky. All the other riders walking around getting interviewed or standing in the corner trying to get attention. I saw Bradl looking so lonely that I didnt even feel like taking a picture with him as he looked pathetic. Then this Moto2 kid was here too. Must have not got the memo Moto2 doesn't come to LGuna. Oh and there was Mac with his groupies. I asked him if he knew who Kropo was...kid didnt have a clue. Oh how I wish we could post vid clips from our mobiles. I got a great one of Crutchlow talking .... with Arrabbiata1' s boy Mr. Parshit. And one where Cal is being interviewed by Mat Roberts...im so close on their grills that the Coventry lad stops momentarily and gives me this WTF evil face. If somebody can find it on a BBC recording I would send u a 6 pack of beer. (Oh yeah and some clown on a scooter trying to get my attention).

It took some working out.

Got to the pit just in time to see Benitos leathers coverred with gravel. Result of a practice crash. Lil Red checking out the AMA DSB grid. And a little visit to the infamous Poncho.
