It's not over for Hayden yet

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Pirkkalan GP @ May 10 2007, 06:58 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>As for bikes being same for both - that doesn't sound 100%true. I don't know much about bikes but you could see differences between Pedrosa's and Hayden's bike last season. Exhausts or something if i remember right? And i thought it was generally excepted that Hayden was running experimental/quite possibly unreliable parts for honda (at least at start of season) where as Pedrosa was not?

I think you have misunderstood my posts. Haydens bike was totaly different and superior to Dani's. It was the less established machine, so it had less setup data and such, but it was the chosen bike. Pedrosas bike was basically the same as other non factory Honda riders, he kept the stock model all year.

Okay okay. Can you explain then why a factory team gives their newest rider a customer machine and why, despite watching all the races last year, I've never heard about it before now.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (rgvneil @ May 7 2007, 10:08 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Bad luck and a not too good bike is conspiring against him.
May I be so bold as to say that Honda don't seem to care about him?

Not a godd bike? He's got a Repsol Honda

Again, go back and read. I said i believe Dani's was not much different from the customer bikes, it had an adjustable swingarm pivot, and probably some other minor stuff mainly so he would fir properly. And one of last years main talking points was The difference between Hayden and Pedrosa's bike.

Because Ducati's beaten them on the straights?
Dani seems to do alright

Oh so funny

i thought it was common knowladge with Nicky riding a different bike to the other Honda riders? or im i getting lost in translation?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Louise @ May 10 2007, 08:21 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Because Ducati's beaten them on the straights?

because they have 6 riders of different shapes and styles, who are all struggling in some way or another with either top speed, engine power or front end feel and turning.

But Tom you wrote that Pedrosa was on a customer bike.
I know Haydens was different.
I was just wondering why Honda wouldn't give him a bike that was better than a customer one. The factory always does that otherwise they would have no advantage over the satellite teams.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Tom @ May 8 2007, 06:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Exactly, Pedrosa rode a standard bike all season, and it was basically only an adjustable swingarm pivot away from being the same spec as Melandris bike.

What can I say Tom? You wrote this.

Firstly, i am talking about 06 not the new 800's. and secondly, I'm not saying it was just a customer bike, but it was very similar. The fundamental difference being the adjustable swingarm pivot. i wouldn't be surprised if there was subtle differences in the electronics that we could never identify, but i have read that his bike wasn't much different from Melandri's

Wasn't Melandri 3rd in line at Honda? So yes his bike would be similar to Dani's.
I know you mean last years 990s.

Have you been believing MCN again?

No don't be silly.

I must clarify, when i said "standard" bike what i was referring to was that Dani had the fundamentally normal RCV, nothing at all like Haydens bike. Melandri was on a "customer" spec bike, and i am saying that Dani's bike was very similar the that. The RCV was in its final phase of development wasn't it, so there was little more to achieve with that bike. That is why Honda made the evo bike so they didn't fall short in the final year.

Interesting. We've understood Hayden's 06 machine in completely opposite ways. I've understood it as one with parts that are made with an 800cc in mind and so possibly not suitable for his bike then and so definitely not the chosen bike...

Maybe i saw there things in a dream

It was not an 800 test bed, thats a load of rubbish. It was actually more accurately built as a rossi/yamaha beater.

...it's all coming clear now. Hayden development bike. Pedrosa chosen bike...

Oops i fell asleep again.

He's in his mid-twenties, he's probably not reached his peak yet, pretty big fanbase, plenty of sponsorship behind him.. Just because he ain't having a good year in 2007, doesn't mean he won't win another championship, or improve in the future.

Just my thoughts.

C'mon, just be realistic. Hayden won because he didn't fall. Hayden didn't win because he had a good season but because the others had a bad one. I have nothing personal against Hayden. If he wins I fully appreciate it. He is a nice guy. But there are at least 5 riders better than Hayden.

A bike which he earned! If you wanna look at things in black and white, we can agree that Hayden maybe not riding so well this year (9th best),but you can concede that he rode better than any last year. Or you can complicate the situation with all the standard machinery and "luck" talk we have, in which case i will tell you Elias is beating Hayden only due to his tires and his lucky streak and that Hayden is the second best rider out there. Either way, get over it mate.
