He's chosen to run the #1 even tho rossi never did in all the years he was world champion, hes slapping a 1 across his leathers bike, helmet everywhere. He is also refering to himself on motogp.com as "trick daddy" who is already a popular southern american rapper??

He has always been my favorite rider, but since he won (mostly cause rossi crashed) he has now changed his leathers to "Numbers dont 1ie" in replace of "Kentucky Kid (1) "

I've never been a fan of his style, but his personality and sportsmanship are first class. Right now only Rossi comes to mind who didn't take the #1 plate. If Hayden didn't switch it, I think people would give him way more s!!!

Who always wore the no 7 plate??

^ agree. Whetherm short-lived or not, let him enjoy it. It's his right/privilege. And like Traverser said: if he, like Rossi, refrained from changing his plate, then more people (mostly from the cult, cheerleaders gang, and whatever else you call it
<
) would have been pissed off.

The bike’s N°1 is not that bad… obviously his happy… but it is getting to his head, isn’t it? And I am not saying this because of all the arguments about the Championship, but because of the fact that the helmet and leathers are completely tasteless, aren’t they? Next will be like a World Champion Boxer with all this gold necklace, bracelets and earrings!

He has had the Kentucky Kid name for a while now. In comparison to car racers, it seems that big-name riders are trying to lend their own little dose of style to the grid. "The Texas Tornado," "Capirex," "The Doctor" (on the bike and the leathers), the bulldog behind the seat of the Yamaha, The turtle on the yoke, King Arthur's sword, an endless variety of helmet paint jobs (including the laundry detergent helmet from 2004), the elaborate post-race celebrations, the seven dwarves gig in Sepang, and...

Obviously some riders personalize their racing experience more than others.

Although I have to agree that the "Trick Daddy" thing is silly.

I am actually surprised he gave up #69. That was his trademark number. Having said that, who cares if he wears #1 he won the championship so it is rightfully his to wear.

I think the 'trick daddy" name has been around a wile, so i wouldn't reed to much inot it.

The idea of it going to his head is a bit stupid really. I mean, considering all the .... someone like rossi has pulled, a nick name and big number is pretty much nothing. If you were world champion would you keep it secret? i certainly wouldnt.

He's always had the 69 displayed prominantly everywhere, bike, windscreen, leathers and helmet. Winning the championship allows a rider to be number one, I don't see what the big deal is. Also, other than Rossi, who was the last Honda rider that won the championship to not wear the number one plate? Honda wants their bikes having the number one plastered all over them.

And the Trick Daddy name has been around since his early days in the AMA, I think it's more of a name among friends though.

:lol:have you been on the sauce hector.

i got nothing against him useing the #1
as for trick daddy,i cant remember ever see'ing him pull off any tricks, unlike the doctor who would put some stuntmen to shame.
wareing the #1 could be quite an embaresment if he doesnt keep his form this year. remember krjr with the #1 at the middle of the pack.

This is THE comparison.
Couldn't agree more. To be honest, I don't get this thread. Should it not have been titled 'Look at Nicky's superb new gear!'
