Winning MotoGP requires some element of luck too. Nicky has just been plain unlucky this year. I think HRC has been bending over backwards to accomodate Nicky from day one. He just happens to have a style that is very different from most other riders on the Honda team. So doing any extensive development to suit Nicky's style would not be beneficial to any of the other riders. the 990 bike suited Nicky better -- stop and go, point and shoot. the 800s requires more of a 250cc style -- higher corner entry speed etc -- which is not something Nicky grew up on. Instead the MotoGP rookies from 250cc appear to be better than many of the MotoGP veterans .
