After a long time in the dark, due mainly to poor TV coverage, I can now follow motoGP. A freetoair channel here shows the races in full, delayed but.
Rode BSA when I did ride, even my first bike was a copy of a british bike (Honda CD175) which I bought because it looked nice and old-fashioned compared to the CBs and SLs. That was 1970 and I was 20. I soon discovered the joys of the crazy B44 'goldstar' single, which I loved from the inside out ... I made my debut as an amatuer mechanic when I replaced the typical broken crankpin. Friends had things like the Suzuki waterbus and other bad-handling machines. Settled down with a BSA Thunderbolt 650 single carb. Settled down even more when I married!

Welcome aboard.................what you riding now then?

er, a toyota.
... it happens to us all as grandchildren start appearing.

I don't ride anymore. I think I'd be a danger on the roads nowadays. I have had a detached retina in one eye and though the sight's restored in that eye monovision is not so good when judging distances, or for making a snap decision about what else is on the road 400+m away.
I can still make jewellery though! Go figure. Pretty crap jewellery - that is, I don't do extremely detailed gemsetting. But I do still make eyeglasses, and that's an irony for someone with a rooted eye.

I make prescription frames to people's specs, either aesthetis wants or optical needs. Last week I finished a replica of a 70s frame that a customer (USA) had worn out and the factory wasn't making anymore. I made them out of 9 karat gold. The frame is not so hot - that is not currently fashonable - but there are people out there for whom fashion is crap. They want what they want.
Images attached.

This week I'm making a sterling silver frame for another customer (in New Zealand) need for a particular eye problem.

I've made some wierd frames in my past see others below, and also lately some rings with curious crystals on top...

You dont't make em for Elton John do ya
