If you were Herve, who would you sign?

Tech 3 seems to be one of the only teams left that needs to fill a seat for next year. And is, since the rookie rule, the best seat to be in for your first motogp season. So I ask you, if you were Herve, who would you give the seat to and why?



I would give the seat to Andre Ianone. Because he is a a fast mother f-er, and will head butt you if he has to. No, I just think he has what it takes to ride at the next level. Maybe not mentally, but if Tech 3 doesn't sign him someone else will. Hmmm Parmac has at least one seat to fill next year, no doubt.
 
Iannone has what US sports writers call "character issues". Plenty fast, but too much of a hothead.



I think there's a very, very very big chance that Poncharal will give Edwards one more shot.

Strange that Colin doesn't want to pursue potential victories again in wsbk, especially knowing his fate in 2011 on a Motogp machine won't be too dissimilar to the previous two seasons.



I also believe Herve will give Colin another crack as he will at least fight for top ten most rounds, wheras most of the likely replacements won't factor much at all- and with his teamate more than likely to be languishing at the back in a learning year, CE remains the best option......

hes a good rider and pushes the bike to its limit and past sometimes

What about Toni Elias? that dude never Belonged in Moto 2 to begin with! Please excuse me if he's already signed with another team and i haven't heard of it
 
Toni Elias. Hes by far the best rider, even better than at least 7 current MotoGP riders (Edwards, Espargaro, Barbara, Bautista, Simonceli, Melandri/Crutchlow, & Aoyama.) CK, word is hes gonna go to Suckzuki to end his career. Suzuki suck and he will only be wasting his talent on a ...... bike.

I think Elias is the best Moto2 guy and probably over qualified for that class...but will never be alien level in MotoGP. I don't think he is better than Melandri....Elais always ran on the Honda staying close to the back in the standings while Melandri has tried a few different bikes and was not far off of Elias in 08 in the Ducati, and 8 points off Elias in 09 with a 2008 spec Kawasaki all season. Elias needs to be in Moto2.5GP (a FX class of Moto2 with MotoGP rules).



I would take Iannone....he might be a hot head, but under the right guidence, he can change that (look at Randy Moss in college vs when Cris Carter mentored him on the Vikings).

I supose its just opinion. U say not alien status, newsflash no ..... On 4 aliens, and if ur gonna use Melandri to make ur point, he said; "aliens do not exist" and chalked it up to package to explain "alien" like performance. Melandri is ebbing Elias is flowing. What about the rest of my list?

Edwards is the best option for Tech 3. With Crutchlow coming in, they need some stability in the garage.



I believe Randy de Puniet will stay with LCR Honda if he hasn't already signed. The Honda is evolving into the strongest bike on the grid, and his team has proven they can perform, why abandon them? Especially considering the M1 will likely be the biggest question mark heading into 2011 now that Rossi will no longer be heading up development. He'd be a great signing if Poncheral could snatch him, I just think RdP will stay put.



Toni Elias is likely capable of more results wise than Edwards is, but he's a notoriously slow learner in the big class. He doesn't come good until the second half season. The last thing a historically cash-strapped team needs is to have both riders struggling to come to terms with the bike in the first half of the season.



Edwards may not be capable of podium finishes anymore, but he can snatch a top five when things go right. And perhaps more importantly to Yamaha at this point, he can mentor Crutchlow and help him adapt. Something that I think will be very necessary if Crutchlow is to succeed.

Next year is going to be interesting to say the least. I agree that the Honda is evolving, and may have already evolved as the best bike on the grid, putting Pedro as odds on favorite for the 2011 title.The big question is, how much development is going to be put into next years bikes, considering the huge change coming in 2012. Who becomes the test mule for Honda. If Dani finishes the season on a roll,there is no way he will mentally accepts test mule status . Stoner, in his mind is the #1 rider for factory Honda, and up until a month ago, Honda thought that as well, but have things changed.. They will have Dovi as a 3rd "factory" rider, he can maybe be the test mule, unless Honda sabotages his chances to get out of the contract. The other factory teams are set with who is #1, the Honda situation is going to be fun to watch.
 
I still say the only person Herve needs to hire is a bad-assed Drill Instructor. Someone to kick that whiny, bitchy, moaning, slacking Edwards' balls back where they belong.



If Gunny Hartman isn't available, maybe Jumkie is up for it?
 
Good stuff everyone. But I was hoping you all would suggest more new talent. All of you said Elias or RDP which I completely understand. Elias belongs in motogp, no question. But I was kinda of hoping for some new blood. So who is the next big thing? The next Spies if you will. I am going to throw out another name. Julian Simon. That guy has impressed me with his style on the moto2 bike. It took him a bit to adapt to the 600cc bikes. But when he did, he started riding the wheels of the bike. Doing so all while looking in total control still. Unlike say Hernedez. I know it would be a little quick to give him a shot already, but thats why I wish they would not have wasted all these back-up rider opportunities on washed up nobodies. I think as we learned that had more to do with saving the bike(engine) than it did with anything else. Lame. I would take any of these guys over Crutchlow. He is going to make for one of the better bikes on the grid to be a backmarker all year. Please tell me he is beautiful like Toesland so at least my wife will be a fan.

Beat me to it. Simone Corsi's another one that's starting to impress me. Not sure whether he's ready for MotoGP yet though.
 
Has Johnny Rea been assigned anywhere yet? I would think him and Crutchlow would be an interesting team to pair up. If anything else, it would definetly stop all the "We need more brits in Motogp' banter.



But I think it's gonna be Colin for another year, especially after Ducati pulled out of WSBK for 2011.

Elias would be their best choice by far. Keeping CE to "mentor" Crutchlow would be the second biggest mistake after signing up Crutchlow.go for Elias - he has actually won races and his dominance in Moto2 could become boring
 
Lets be realistic. Colin wont crash much. With Cal on the other side of the garage almost certainly ruining bikes often, Colin is a good financial decision
 
i think jonny rea deserves to be in motogp .. i d prefer to see him than crutchlow on that tech3 seat, but he ll probably end up on a privateer honda in 2012
