I don't know how it works. If heard it uses G-force telemetry meters to compare actual g loads to those the bike should theoretically be generating under acceleration.

Suzuki developed it to exploit a loophole in the rules. In response, the AMA lifted the ban on TC in July 2006.

That's all I know.
 
Before the AMA allowed traction control, I've heard the Suzukis stuttering leaving corners. That's a tell-tale sign of TC. A common method in drag racing without wheel sensors is setting a limit on how fast an engine can rev. Through lots of testing a maximum engine acceleration rate can be determined, and when the engine surpasses that rate a limiter is engaged. No more spikes when the rear tire loses traction. It's all done through an engine timing computer. Pretty cool, actually.
