Barros wasn't healthly when he finally got a great ride.

He was the last of the demon brakers.

I hope that Motogp digs him up when the show heads back to south america.

its a shame hes not in wsbk anymore,  i would have loved to see him ,checa and biaggi go at it for the championship.

anybody know why he didn't continue with klaffi / get a factory ducati or what have you?

Alex had a very nasty accident at Suzuka on the 'untamed ' screamer version of M1 in 2003 which took its toll. He always maintained that much of his feedback and recommendations for improvement of the M1 was knocked back by Yamaha due to budget constraints but strangely appeared on the unrecognizably transformed 2004 machine that largely had its origins in a blank cheque book and four engine options which had hitherto never been presented to either himself Biaggi, Checa, or Melandri. - cough - How the hell did that happen? That year as I remember he was also sued by Altadis for breech of a two year contract by going to Repsol Honda. I'm sure it cost him several million.

He was sauntering around at Catalunya actually.

I believe he mentors Eric Granado.

But that was before he even got a honda, if I'm not terribly mistaken he was quite alright whilst still banged up on the repsol and later the pons machine.

What happened anyways that he didn't land a ride for 06? Already signed to pons before biaggi gate and when the music stopped all good seats were taken?ifs and buts, but imagine if he got at least a satellite honda for 06 , , that would have been an even better season!

He had a Honda, didn't he?

He flogged Vale as soon as he swapped his NSR for an RCV.

Then he went to Yamaha and told them where'd they'd gone wrong.

Or am I missing something on the timeline?

 sorry, perhaps wasn't clear enough.

i meant the repsol ride in 2004 after his 1 year stint on the first FI yam , in 2002 he spent most of the season on a 500 like his teammate loris did and only got to ride the 4 stroke for the last 4 or so races and he won 2 of those.

its just a shame he wasn't fit enough to be a serious contender on the 04 honda, he surely is every bit the rider that sete and max are.

can't get my head around how nobody wanted to pick him up for 06 (i would make a case that he was way more valuable than sete post jerez 05 or in fact probably everybody else...except maybe marco but we all know how that turned out)

.... dude give it a rest. Your man love for cliche is totally freaking me.

Oh an as a response to your (much) earlier comments: YES! I am proud of my 19 yr old daughter who is kicking butt at uni AND loves to wake and bake... a chip off d old block. If you think that being straight makes you a better person than you are dumber than cliche thinks.

Ah. I get you now.

Why no '06 ride? Perhaps something to do with Camel taking their cash off Barros/Honda over to Yamaha/Rossi/Edwards? Or that he was getting pretty long in the tooth by then?
