Hi all.

I have been looking around for information on how to start a privateer team in moto 3. And the cost associated with it.
So I am hoping somebody on this forum can point me in the right direction.

Thanks.

Well I started my motogp team using kick starter and then I was on shark tank. Are you serious right now?

You need to go North West.
$16 will buy you a train ticket.
$7 for a sandwich.

I am most definitely very serious.

All I have been able to find is some article suggesting the price on a moto 2 team being between 400 000-1 000 000 Euros. But no info on how to go further than an estimated price.

It seems really difficult to get in without knowing anybody on the inside because nobody takes the request seriously.

You're serious, but all you have read is an article...
What are your current assumptions for costs/budget?

Well ..... If your team needs a Uccio I am available. I can sit in the pit box and get all excited and sad. I just won't do the reach around.

Find David Emmett on twitter and ask him, he could point you in the right direction.

Don't ask a journo they will give you some ......... answer, becuase they don't know.

If your serious, by yourself a VIP ticket to a GP, get talking to the garages, mooch around make a few contacts, speak to Dorna. Take it from there. I bet people will be open with you, after all it's in Dornas intertesting to get more teams on the grid

I have a friend that does a few moto2 wildcards.
His team podiums in the cev moto2 series.
He is currently looking for a major sponsor so he can enter the moto2 grid next year.

I would suggest you team up with him for a year or two to see how things go.

It is cheaper to run a moto2 team than a moto3

Im overly opinionated, indecisive, and prone to tantrums. This makes me a perfect candidate for a coach, if you need one

Thanks for the advice guys.

That was the point. All I could find was one simple article. No help on other forums. No response from reaching out to people I would associate with racing. Nothing anywhere.

I will definitely be trying to make some contact in the pits.

gekko1ro, I started a private sourcing company that acquires rare stones and metals from locations that aren't in conflict or under dictatorship. The quality tends to be lower. But a few impurities are worth it if peoples lives aren't at risk. I then sold it. And that's about as much as I can say about that.

Thanks for the responses. My apologies if this is a double thread. I got a message posted display but I don't see my response.

Ok then, good for you. Sorry, but I didn't think for a second that you are serious. Good luck and if you wish, please keep us informed how things evolve.

Sorry MdubSTYLIE. I am well out of that industry. I sold the business and along with that there are many many non compete documents in play.

gekko1ro. I am sure I will post up some stuff if I manage to get this project off the ground.

Silvia, I would suggest getting in touch with Shovel

He will definitely be able to assist or provide contacts

I have worked on several professional racing teams... first off it always costs more then you think, its one of those thinks that separates people who think they have a lot of money from people who actually have a lot of money. I have seen and worked with some very clever business men, who lost their ... when they tried to get into racing. Its more then just buying the bike, the tools, and hiring mechanics... you have to get the whole operation to and from every race (and testing) and take care of everyones food, travel, ect... then you have replacement parts, and other intangibles... so its one thing to start a team, its another thing to operate a team for an entire season.

My guess you could probably start a team for $250K, that should cover the bike and engine package, and tools & equipment. I think (someone correct me if I am wrong) the series helps with some of the logistics of moving the equipment around, I am sure there is a fee for that. Hiring personal, and moving them around the world for a season probably $1.5 million.
