Honesty appreciated in this special scenario....

Why bother, right?

(same thought)

Anyway, my honest answer: Both riders will impress me. If the other rider can be within two secs riding a pig, thats pretty impressive. Pigs are generally slow fat and greasy, and contrary to popular opinion, cannot fly. Now if he were on an alpaca going that slow, I'd be less impressed. I've seen alpacas run, and those fuckers are faster than you think.

Nice!!

Another cheap dig at Rossi, the guys won 7 championships, he's got nothing to prove. Put it this way every time I have seen Stoner in a scrap he has ended up losing out.

watch catalunya 2007...honestly the best race i've seen of recent times....rossi pushes him til the end but stoner wins.

I was thinking the same but you know Sachsen 11 should be better ....... there's just something about the location too I figure, Catalunya is just more dramatic than Sachsen or something,

If one had to use head Sachsen 11 should be it though .

And finally

Sometimes I eat dog biscuits

You did ask for honesty and that is brutal

Scenario...

You have been invited to a special track day watching two of the sports elite riders test two completely different bikes, one a poorly designed pig and the other a weapon that handles like its on rails.

Rider A posts the very same lap times on both bikes matching the lap record on the pig first followed by the weapon.

Rider B matches rider A,s times on the weapon but 2 seconds a lap slower on the pig, making many more adjustments to the pig than rider A, with no improvement, only managing to match the lap times of previous riders of lesser ability.

This is where you need to be honest, you are driving home from watching this track day, pondering which rider has earnt your respect, and which has lost it ??? :)

Your thoughts !

A rider loses my respect because he doesn't get on with a particular bike? No.

If we are actually talking Rossi/Ducati here, let's throw in that the guy who was fast on both bikes is also the ONLY guy who was fast on both bikes, even when throwing in some other big names - and the guy who was fast on both has been complaining about the same problem the other guy was complaining about for the last 3 seasons (and regularly crashing his brains out stating he didn't know why he crashed). No, no respect lost here.

A cruel harsh assessment, but I can think of no logical rebuttal....................................

Not being able to get on with the Ducati is not a situation worthy of critisism, as only one person has been able to even slightly get to grips with it. The only thing Rossi could be critisised for is not being prepared to push on the Ducati (ironic after he critisized Casey for this last year), but given Rossi's circumstances I don't think anybody (except perhaps Casey himself) can really think any less of Vale for what he is doing.

Rossi owes Stoner an apology, no doubt. The ego would never allow it...

Obviously rider A since you got respect the man with the skills (and balls) to ride anything no matter how bad. Once apon a time in 500cc racing all bikes were probably pigs in that they were hard to ride, evil handling beasts so everyone had to be in the rider A category to win. That was the whole point.

Roberts, Gardner, Lawson, Rainey, Schwantz were all rider A, able to ride anything fast. Now we can throw in Stoner. Give him an old 500cc and I'm sure he would be able to get the best out of it.

Not sure if Doohan or Spencer were pure A or B? Both prefered to set up their bikes did they not?

I remember Rossi was actually a self proclaimed rider A, once saying he prefered evil handling 500cc and early 990 bikes to showcase his greater skills. He complained modern riders (Stoner) depend too much on electronic aids (traction control) and that without it they would be no match for him. Well I think Rossi had the chance to prove this was true by taming the wild Ducati beast, but so far he cant. I think he's come to the realisation he may be a rider B after all and lost some respect for himself, since he doesnt look to happy these days.

But their is one catch(wrongly put in your statement) -

Althought Rider B matches A's times on your so called Weapon bike, In reality "B" will be winning more races/championships with that bike, compare to Rider A. which is what importent. Pigs can't win you championships, not really importent.
