It seems that upper echelon managment at DMG is getting scarce. Not many of the originals, except the one that really needs to go,are still around.

You've gotta see the big picture. DMG doesn't have the power to run AMA Pro, let alone organize a massive shift in the rules for the national series. Edmondson is carrying water for the motherships b/c he wants the name AMA on the new rulebook for the national series', and he's hoping to circumvent his enemies.

WSBK has 17 bikes for next season. SEVENTEEN. 14 are works bikes. MotoGP 1000cc is allegedly going to feature just 8 works bikes while eliminating cushy satellite bike contracts subsidized by Dorna or the MSMA. Moto2 has no factory bikes. Very little factory involvement in BSB, hence the new Evo class. Little or no factory support in the AMA.

The manufacturers are pulling out of racing, and they want standardized rules that allow them to produce 1 or 2 lines of parts that they can sell to generate revenue. They don't want small prototyping companies to carve up the national series. WSBK rules would achieve the desired results, but running WSBK rules in every series around the world would cost an arm-and-a-leg. It is already unsustainable in BSB and they've had to adopt Evo rules.

The master plan is to force all prototyping companies into the GP system via Moto2 and the new "production derived" 1000cc GP engines. The production series are going to be managed entirely by the manufacturers who homologate the race bikes.

DMG doesn't even come into play except that Edmondson appears to be getting cozy with the people in Japan so he can position DMG to be the major benefactor in the reorganization of SBK racing.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>Somewhere along the way, the AMA decided it want to assume control of Edmondson's interest in the 1994 joint venture without compensating him. Thus, the negotiations between Edmondson and the AMA never reached a signed agreement. In late 1993, Tom Mueller, a vice president of the AMA, directed Roy Janson, the head of the AMA's racing department, to prepare a memorandum regarding how the AMA could effect a secret takeover of Edmondson's interest in the 1994 joint venture. Janson had completed and submitted the requested memorandum by the end of December 1993. In early April 1994, the AMA implemented the secret takeover plan outlined in Janson's memorandum with a few revisions

Its called Google search, your not special

The bad blood between Edmondson and the AMA is well documented. I cant imagine that the powers that be, didnt see this whole clusterfuck coming when they sold to DMG.There was hard feelings and a lot of the players then are still players today.Ray Blank didnt say" maybe i just dont like the ............" because he had learned to hate Edmondson in 3 months, which is possible with Edmondson. This was doomed from the beginning which makes me believe that DMG got what they wanted when the factories pulled out. I just cant believe Edmondson still expects them to pay his bills.

What's google?

You know what's weird about Blank? I was googling through some links the other day b/c I remembered him talking about a global rules set for the national series and a stumbled upon an interesting cycle world interview. Ray Blank said he pulled out of AMA racing for purely economic reasons. He said the decision was made by the big bosses at Honda, and that he was satisfied with the rules package b/c he had gotten 90% of what he wanted.

I can't figure out what's going on. Edmondson doesn't have the power to influence the people at MFJ. These new rules are part of something bigger.

Surely to god, they dont think their relationship with the fans is going to improve because of this.Yes,it looks as if RE has taken the fans advice and moved himself out of the spotlight where he cant piss people off evrytime he opens his pie hole,BUT,unless they restructure the classes to what the fans want, this means nothing.

DMG Press Release

Roy Janson is gone, and David Atlas is now in charge of operations. But with Roger Edmondson still Chairman and CEO, is it enough to restore confidence in the series, or just a case of rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic?
From a press release issued by AMA Pro Racing

AMA Pro Racing Announces Structure and Personnel Changes

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (November 25, 2009) - AMA Pro Racing announces today the restructuring of its corporate infrastructure and other changes in personnel.

AMA Pro Racing Managing Member, David Atlas has been appointed Chief Operating Officer. Atlas will now have day to day operational control of AMA Pro Racing with Managing Member and President Roger Edmondson moving to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer position. This will enable Edmondson to focus on the overall direction of AMA Pro Racing and its vision for the future.

Atlas brings thirty years of motor racing experience to his new role, having been actively engaged with various sanctioning groups, racing teams and in driver management. Atlas was one of the original AMA Pro Racing managing members and will now focus on the day-to-day operational aspects of the AMA Pro Racing operation.

As the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Edmondson will continue to provide the vision and direction for AMA Pro Racing. Roger's extensive history in motorcycle racing gives him a unique perspective on class creation and where the sport will grow and develop with his very unique understanding of the latest trends in the business.

AMA Pro Racing confirms the departure of Roy Janson from the company. Janson, who has been in the sport for forty years, will be relocating back to his home in Ohio for non-threatening health reasons. Janson will continue to be available to AMA Pro Racing as an independent contractor/consultant.

Joining the AMA Pro Racing operation will be racing and communications veteran John Szymanski as the Director of Public Relations and overall communications.

Szymanski brings over thirty years of racing experience having worked with teams, drivers, tracks and major manufacturers in a variety of roles within the sport. He will provide a consistent and thorough face to the PR role with AMA Pro Racing.

AMA Pro Racing is the premier professional motorcycle racing organization in North America, operating a full schedule of events and championships for a variety of motorcycle disciplines. Learn more about AMA Pro Racing at www.amaproracing.com.

Looks like Edmondson is installing a buffer between himself and the people who he doesn't get on with. I hope this David Atlas guy is well organized so he can get the day to day running like clockwork.

I also think the class structure needs some work, but they can run "real" superbikes without the manufacturers. At one point, we were supposed to have real superbikes, but the whole thing fell apart when the miserable sales figures started trickling in.

Anyway, if Roger wants to do his power to weight ratio class, he should do it with naked sport bikes. Nakeds have been one of the fastest growing segments b/c they are basically the CB750s of the modern era. Plus they look like retro SBKs when you take off the headlight and install a number plate. I say 1200cc aircooled 4 strokes, 750cc watercooled 4 strokes, 100-120hp or something similar. I alot of bikes could race in that class. Aprilia Shiver, Ducati Monster/Hypermotard, Z750, Buell XB12, Triumph Street Triple, Honda CB600, SV650, BMW HP2, Harley XR1200, Yamaha FZ6, etc.

They should also figure out a way to bring back clean 2 strokes.

I think real SBKs or FX bikes is a lost cause at this point. The manufacturers have gone AWOL, but even if everyone apologizes and moves forward, it isn't going to make the money reappear.
