Wasn't Hayden the only guy to stay anywhere near Rossi/Capirossi at Mugello? In fact he crossed the line right with them. I don't care anyway, it's a playground argument. 'My Dad could beat the crap out of your Dad' type stuff. Makes me laugh. I gotta go now, mama's calling me to put on my PJ's.

Some of this stuff is ridiculous. A win is only valid at tracks where Rossi is on pace to run at the front or doesn't have a malfunction or fall off? Does Bayliss' win count? What about all of Melandri, Pedrosa or Capirossi's wins? According to this logic the only person to "beat" Rossi this year was Elias.

When will MotoGP be adopting the "Rossi Rules" points system? I wish they would implement it soon, it's confusing trying to differentiate the World Champion according to the existing points system and the "actual" World Champion...

Hey skidmark, I'm impressed with your moves! did you pull your frets out with pliers before you did that?

Jaco would have kicked Haydens lily ... too, nude on a motorcycle through a hotel in Tokyo!

Keep the funk

Pete

BTW Next year I think it should be 25 points for first, with an extra 25 for the surname Rossi

You are indeed a man of taste skid, I'm actually taking a break from changing the pickup in my Precision as we speak!

Sorry to go so far off the subject, but I saw John Patitucci playing with John Schofield and Peter Erskine earlier this year, you sound like you would have enjoyed that one!

Yes he was! and to make things even more special, he had the 14th fastest bike.

That was the only thing said that was a little silly. Rossi must be mad at himself, or at least he should, as he can only blame the loss of the title to himslef and the team. How Rossi could get mad at Hayden is a mystery to me.
Sure he's mad at himself but that's when he's at his best.

PeteI'm more of a fan of Scofield's earlier stuff a la Metheny/Frissell Pete, I went to see the uberjam tour and I didn't stay the whole gig, too 'samey', not risky enough for my sick tastes. I'm a Mahavishnu freak. Good to have a fellow rocker here anyway

Skid, I'm not sure what you all are talkin' about but you will never, EVER find a better bassist than Flea. Sorry lads.

Sorry mate, were talking about the guys that Flea learned from! Check out his dvd or interviews and he's quite open about it.

But I will say, he's one of the best about at the moment.

I am a fan of Haydens as well as Rossi. I think to discount his (Haydens) performance this year is a bit harsh. I know the US doesn't win any popularity contests internationally atm, so i just attribute the flack to that. The number speak for themselves. He won this year plane and simple, and i don't like excuse making. Now with that said you can't compare Hayden to Rossi imo. Rossi came onto the 500 scene and just dominated (well year one was a bit crazy). I don't know of any other riders who have stepped in and just conquered to that degree. I don't think anyone can nor would take anything from Rossi as he has proven in every rank he is probably the best rider we have seen to date.
Now with all of that said, i think next season will be insane. It almost reminds me of the 00-02 WSB seasons where the series was just littered with talent. I can't ever remember having so many people in one series at one time that i honestly thought could take the championship (hell we may not again).

These threads are getting ridiculous. So what if he says he wants to 'duke it out', what else to do you expect him to say. Everything NH says people start criticising him

I quite agree. And this is my take on this:

The reason why there's a load of criticism with Hayden's statements lately is that he has become more popular than before because of winning the 2006 championship. People are starting to notice him more, and pay attention to what he says. And with that, people see something, and they voice out their opinions. It comes with the fame really.

Welcome to the site. What a great post. You give props to both riders which is very much deserved. I appreciate a Rossi fan being able to give Hayden his fair due.

I haven't chimed in on this thread because this thread was already covered and I chimed in there. To sum up my previous responses to this type of negative spin on what Hayden says, I say it's just a veiled attempt to cry over the fact that their guy didn't win.

It is refreshing to read a post that presents both sides of the coin as you did.

Yup, very insightful. He is being scrutinized now more than ever. Unfortunately, the perception of what he says will be colored with the glasses the reader has on.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Electric Mofo @ Nov 21 2006, 06:57 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>What the hell! Do you want Hayden to say "WAH! WAH! I GIVE UP.... <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (V8GUZZI @ Nov 20 2006, 09:22 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Funny how Rossi fans read things so differently than Hayden fans might. It sounds to me like Hayden in a roundabout way is saying Rossi is still the man to beat. What would you advise the World Champ to say if not I'm going to come out and fight to retain the title? Rossi telling the public Gibbers will not win another race is Ali like, not what Hayden is quoted as saying. M Ali- " I am the greatest of AAAALLLL TIIIIMMME !!!!" N Hayden- "My best is still to come..." I think it's a fact Hayden is improving and even though he will never be at the level of Rossi maybe he is the right man at the right time to pull in two or three championships. Tornado, the list you have are the same cast of characters and if you take out Vale one word comes to mind, inconsistant. How can you slight Hayden's riding and have Edwards on that list? The only thing CE has proven is he is one of the best test riders in MotoGP and is no real threat to Vale, that's why he[Vale] likes Colin so much.
<
Oh yeah, if I'm Nicky I'm loving the fact it's more important to go race a rally than test the new bike, I thought Vale was going to re-focus this year?

Agree

(and by the way, I think if Roberts had a factory ride he would have been the runner up this year, if not the champ)

Well, I think that goes for everyone who has a sudden boost of popularity. And yeah, it depends on who reads what.

We can't stop them in voicing their opinions, everyone is entitled to that. All we could do is try to defend our respective rider, hope that they may be "enlightened", and if not... well, just learn to live with it, probably with eyes and ears closed sometimes.

I woke up this morning, rolled out of bed from a massive Thanksgiving hangover and read this post.... and immediately felt better.
