<{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I am a fan of Haydens as well as Rossi. I think to discount his (Haydens) performance this year is a bit harsh. I know the US doesn't win any popularity contests internationally atm, so i just attribute the flack to that. The number speak for themselves. He won this year plane and simple, and i don't like excuse making. Now with that said you can't compare Hayden to Rossi imo. Rossi came onto the 500 scene and just dominated (well year one was a bit crazy). I don't know of any other riders who have stepped in and just conquered to that degree. I don't think anyone can nor would take anything from Rossi as he has proven in every rank he is probably the best rider we have seen to date.
Now with all of that said, i think next season will be insane. It almost reminds me of the 00-02 WSB seasons where the series was just littered with talent. I can't ever remember having so many people in one series at one time that i honestly thought could take the championship (hell we may not again).
Just chiming in from a newbie
Welcome to the site. What a great post. You give props to both riders which is very much deserved. I appreciate a Rossi fan being able to give Hayden his fair due.
I haven't chimed in on this thread because this thread was already covered and I chimed in there. To sum up my previous responses to this type of negative spin on what Hayden says, I say it's just a veiled attempt to cry over the fact that their guy didn't win.
It is refreshing to read a post that presents both sides of the coin as you did.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I quite agree. And this is my take on this:
The reason why there's a load of criticism with Hayden's statements lately is that he has become more popular than before because of winning the 2006 championship. People are starting to notice him more, and pay attention to what he says. And with that, people see something, and they voice out their opinions. It comes with the fame really.
Yup, very insightful. He is being scrutinized now more than ever. Unfortunately, the perception of what he says will be colored with the glasses the reader has on.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>What the hell! Do you want Hayden to say "WAH! WAH! I GIVE UP.... I cant believe some people here sometimes. Its like anyone who opposses the GOD Rossi must have his mouth cut off, get off his nuts for like 2 seconds will ya!
Agree

<{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Funny how Rossi fans read things so differently than Hayden fans might. It sounds to me like Hayden in a roundabout way is saying Rossi is still the man to beat. What would you advise the World Champ to say if not I'm going to come out and fight to retain the title? Rossi telling the public Gibbers will not win another race is Ali like, not what Hayden is quoted as saying. M Ali- " I am the greatest of AAAALLLL TIIIIMMME !!!!" N Hayden- "My best is still to come..." I think it's a fact Hayden is improving and even though he will never be at the level of Rossi maybe he is the right man at the right time to pull in two or three championships. Tornado, the list you have are the same cast of characters and if you take out Vale one word comes to mind, inconsistant. How can you slight Hayden's riding and have Edwards on that list? The only thing CE has proven is he is one of the best test riders in MotoGP and is no real threat to Vale, that's why he[Vale] likes Colin so much.
Oh yeah, if I'm Nicky I'm loving the fact it's more important to go race a rally than test the new bike, I thought Vale was going to re-focus this year?
Agree
(and by the way, I think if Roberts had a factory ride he would have been the runner up this year, if not the champ)
