Cuz it looks like hurricane ike will be directly over indy tomorrow. Massive wind and monsoon weather on the way. Will be interesting if they have to delay one day. It is interesting to note that the first motorcycle race there in 1909 was delayed one day because of rain also....we will have to wait and see.

It actually would be nice.... that's if they still plan to be on air for the hour. Maybe they can go around garages and do interviews with the riders and stuff, and show the life of a MotoGP racer.

Not that I can remember, but the plan is to move the race UP in time if rain starts....

It is not supposed to rain in Indy until about 1pm and the race starts at 3pm....They did say on Europsport this means the Race could be moved to 12pm local time or earlier to make sure MotoGP race does run and that would also mean the 250s and 125s are cancelled....

Long Story short...unless it is hundred of mile an hour winds and it is 100x worse than friday the race will be run on Sunday....

And Rain does make for rescheduled races in MotoGP....worse case they cancel the meeting altogether...

its a shame we don't go to Brasil anymore then we could have the two US races around that meeting and when its a little better weather like in July.

they have said that they may bring the race forward 2 hours to 11.00 if its dry and the forecast is still crap for 1.00pm. if its a washout they will just cancel the race.

They absolutely will not cancel it, I can guarantee that. There is too much money invested. That is silly to think that.

I can't help but to think that the weather here is 85 without rain in sight.
When they 1st announced that Indy was going to get a motogp race I was completely baffled as to why.
For starters it's not a true race track, just an oval with a roadcourse built in.
We AMA fans are used to seeing that but it still sucks.
If they were dead set about riding on a NASCAR track than why not Daytona.
I'm sure Daytona would have made improvements to get this race.
It barely rains for more than an hour at a time here in Florida.
Between Orlando, Daytona Ft Lauderdale and Miami there is a hell of a lot more incentive to be a spectator here.
Indianapolis is a city noone goes to unless they have to.
How many people going are actually going to stay to hang out and see Indy?
Besides Daytona is a track with way more motorcycle history than Indy.
All the great old timers have been here.
Screw Indy, their football team and thier crappy weather.

Actually Crash.net said that they will cancel the race if the rain is too bad and then Rossi would only have to beat Stoner by one point in Japan to capture the title.

On the morning new (nine hours ago) the funnel stopped. I doubt there will be any delay, unless areas of the track have more than a quarter of an inch of standing water.

Daytona would literally have to rip apart the entire track to meet MotoGP regulations. Basically they would have to build an entire new track without the oval.

Homestead also comes to mind in the Sunshine State. Some of these are the same lame excuses we get for not having a National MX. Everyone says it's too hot in FL in the summer. Guess what, it's usually hotter almost everywhere else in the nation during the summer months. It has never been over 100deg. in Tampa, never. We are suppose to also have more hurricanes, guess what, the midwest has had more impact from Ike and Gustav than FL. Plus, the main point is I wouldn't have to drive so far. Has ANYONE considered that fact? NOOO....

NO amount is more important than riders safety...

...Canceling is a real posibility for any venue if needed due to conditions, and MotoGP is not depedent on 1 venues or Races income to make the whole thing work. It would be disastorous for Indy and their backers, and that is about it.

Besides....what if it is pissing it down, like it was on Friday, for the race? We get to see actual skill at work in the rain and not just machine power. Take a look at the timing sheets from Friday, and you will see talent and adaptability to conditions from the best of the best. AND if Indy is under water today then we might get to see a Kawasaki on the podium (and not the one with Brilliant White Teeth!)....

When AMA raced Homestead about 10 years ago the riders wanted to come back because in terms of facilities it was the best.
They only raced for that year only.
Homestead is a 50 minute drive for me so that would be great
