After a last minute funding scare, 19-year-old Chaz Davies looks set to start his third season in the 250cc World Championship at this weekend's season-opening Spanish Grand Prix.
The Briton has joined the Italian Ticino Hosting Campetella Aprilia team for 2006, but has suffered early season problems with availability of machinery, caused by funding issues, and recently admitted he wasn't sure what bike he would ride at Jerez - or even if he'd be there at all.
However, on Monday before leaving for Jerez, some of the problems appeared to have been resolved - although he knows it will be tough at the first race of the year
"I went to the launch of the team at the weekend and it appears I will have a 2006 Aprilia kitted bike for the Jerez race with the promise of a semi factory machine by the Qatar or Turkish grands prix (rounds two and three)," revealed Chaz.
"The problem at Jerez will be the lack of track time I've had during the winter. We had major problems with the forks during testing and so we will be starting from scratch on Friday morning doing the work we should have been doing in January.
"Despite the problems I'm reasonably confident of picking up some points over the weekend and I'm certainly a lot happier than I was a week ago," he concluded.
