...the championship that is. It's going to be good to see guys just racing one race at a time again and not worrying about points. Japan was really a bit of a crap shoot, albeit a fascinating one. It was all about the fencing going on between Rossi and Stoner, who would pull in first, if at all? Stoner not racing to win, just to beat Vale, and understandbly so I must add. I hope Rossi doesn't hold back too much in terms of second in the championship either. I mean second place in the title ahead of Pedrosa has got to be a safe bet now with Valentinoi a healthy 26 points in front of Dani. And I don't care who wins any more of the races, just as long as we get treated to some real action. The Yamaha and Honda seem to be well on their ways to being proper sorted and Michelin seem to have stepped up their game too. So c'mon guys, the title's been decided, only thing left is pride, give us a real 'kamikaze club racer' show. Only three races left, at three ( well ok, two ) great tracks. It'll be great PR for the sponsorship trawl!

Well here's wishfull thinking

I reckon that Kawasaki have got their bike sorted out much more than Yamaha. My current manufacturers in order would probably be:
Ducati
Honda
Kawasaki
Yamaha
Suzuki

I'm just hoping Stoner goes home for a few days and has a bit more training around the hills of Tamworth ... then comes back and puts on a real display for P.I. Would be a bit of a dissapointment if he just cruises now the title is decided ... hopefully he can "ride for the fun" again.

I can't see him cruising around at the Island Barry. Imagine the adrenalin rush he will get when he first gets on track to the cheers of those bumper crowds! He will be up for a big one I think ... I'm sure he will want to put on the show that he has all year ... no pressure now either!

Your kidding aren't you? Suzuki riders are placed fourth and fifth in the world championship race and have been strong from the word go..

The real order is something like this:-

Ducati
Honda
Suzuki
Kawasaki - Yamaha (about even, Yamaha a tad behind)

That's it Bazza, the title's decided but there's still so much at stake. Rossi loves Phillip Island, so Stoner sort of 'has to' win, to kinda mark his territory. BTW, he doesn't come from anywhere near tamworth does he, I thought it was kuri kuri (probably spelt wrong) I drove past a sign for it in July on my way back to sydney from newcastle.

He originally came from Sth east Queensland ( I think ) ....... then Kurri ( hot bed of motos around Kurri LOL also very close to where "speedway" riding began ) ...... but now he has money he has a farm in the hills near Tamworth NSW.

Sure Philip Island is not really that near Tamworth maybe 1,500km .... but to Aussies 1,500 km is not that far ..... hard to explain ... its a big empty place compared to Europe and not as populated as US ... .. I was working on a rail loadout with an old German guy once and he would get up for a break and point and say "what's over there" ...... I'd answer him with the town name nearest in the direction he was pointing eg. "Winton 300km maybe??" he'd just go phewww and shake his head ... he found it unnerving being so far away from a town. Only when I travelled in Germany did I understand why... it seemed there as soon as I left a city the next one was coming in sight, that I found difficult to understand/live with.

So anyway, irrespective of how far ..... Philip island is our local GP track

I agree. The Suzuki squad have been faltering lately but their season has been quite good and the bike is the best they have built yet. Kawasaki haven't accomplished much this season. The Honda is much improved and the Ducati, well only one guy could ride it fast but that's all that mattered in the end. Yamaha have had a couple of rotten seasons compared to what was expected. I still think Honda will always build a better machine than Yamaha.

Can we just agree that at this point we've got decent machines coming from all the factories and be happy about it?

I put kawasaki bottom, even if they have got the bike sorted they need better riders... John Hopkins was a good move.

Suzuki are riding the bridgestone high i feel and their achievements are a tad overrated.

I think the Yamaha is very level with the Honda and Ducati are not far ahead now.

Baz I've been to Oz a few of times now and I don't think I'll ever get my head around how bloody huge the place is. I toured with a band several times in Europe, clocked up quite a few clicks, most of it in Germany and it seemed big to me coming from Ireland. Ireland's tiny compared even to Europe. Belfast is on the east coast, head west for 300k's and you're in the Atlantic Ocean. I've a mate that lives in Windsor, outside Sydney. His bro lives about six hours west of there, his next door neighbour is 18k's away
<
, it's a different world mate, but I gotta say I love Australia.

Stop your moaning Skid. Do you know how small the island I live on is? 9 miles long and 5 miles wide. Most cities throughout the world are bigger than this whole island. It's nice to get away on the bikes once in a while to use a tankful of fuel in one go, it lasts a week over here!

What?

Now that the championship is decided, I fully expect him to win the next three races, especially the Australian round!

stoner has gone up from my expectations, because he proved he could win and stay on a bike and the respect he showed towards his heros on his t-shirt.
true racers always go for the race win's not just championships imo, so we will see what sort of racer he is over the next rounds.

hahaha yeah "The Simpsons" paid out on that in the episode that some kid rode 3 hrs on his "dinky" to find out, for Bart, if the neighbours toilet span ??? one way ot t'oher

Funny you mention bands and gigging .... I have a violinist aquaintance who would dearly love to tour here but he is worried about whether he can recoup the actual travel costs .... shame .... small population spread far apart.
In England he makes his living from gigs/functions all within about 2.5 hrs.

I live between Sydney and Newy ( not far from Windsor really too ), glad to see you saw that little part of Aust. but it is, believe it or not, one of the heaviest populated parts of Aust. too
