Hello!
I'm flying from Chicago to San Fran and renting a car to drive to laguna seca by myself at my first motogp event. I had a couple of questions: is there good viewing/seating areas in the infield that i can get into with a general admission ticket? i'm thinking of getting a turn 11 or turn 4 grandstand ticket for saturday, does anyone have experience with either one? in your opinion, where is the best place to watch the race from the infield... also how is the parking situation, plenty of it? easy to find? do the hotels fill up fast in town? and any other advice for a first time GPer would be greatly appreciated, i want to get the whole experience, i read on the event schedule, theres an autograph session, do you need a special vip ticket or will a gen admission suffice?

thank you!

Huh! Sour grapes maybe???
Nick maybe you could pm burky or rj?
Though hotels at GP's tend to be booked full months ahead at some places (dunno about LSeca) so you better hurry up if you don't want to go camping!!!

I've done grandstand seating once at turn four. It's nice to sit down and I know they used to have a big screen so you could see the action around the track, which was nice. But you really only get to see them when they crest the hill at turn one, exiting turn three, turn four and the short chute to five. I prefer watching from the hillside over turn two for racing. You see them from start/finish to six and Rainey Curve to just about turn 10 and back at start/finish. The track is relatively small, spend Friday and Saturday walking the place and decide where you like best. Try to avoid the bridges at the lunch rush and at exit time.

I believe all parking is now set up at various locations throughout Monterey and a shuttle takes you into the track. Check www.laguna-seca.com or else you can find more info at www.mst.org.

If you don't have a hotel reservation now you're going to be hard pressed to get one for a reasonable price within reasonable distance. My first year I communted from San Francisco. It's not terrible, about a two hour drive each way. I would check availability online before heading out there.

Be sure to go to Cannery Row in Monterey at night, full of bikes and people. Really a good time. Best of luck.

Of course there's no hassle watching it from the comfort of your home, but once you've experience the atmosphere at the track, you won't want to watch it on tv anymore.
