FINALLY CONFIRMED! Yamaha will welcome valentiono rossi officially tomorrow morning

It's "interesting" how quiet this forum gets when Rossi does well.

Haha you dope. Did you start watching GP last week. Dont you know qualifying is a dog and pony show. I havnt seen the qp results yet but let me guess, its all alien bikes. Shocking.

Right. Except when your boy Jorge is on pole. Then he's a sure winner.

Pole is dog and pony show as said above. As long as you are on the first row, you are good.

JLo doesn't need the pole. He has the best start of the three. He will be leading into the first corner, as he was last week. Now, can he maintain the lead or give it up like last week is the question.

I love how you boners dismiss the importance of pole position when it doesn't go to one of your favorite riders.

Dude. I am not a boner. Been dismissing the pole for years. It is bike racing, not car racing so it is not as big of a deal.

Look back over the past two years, has the pole really made a difference in the out come of any race? When has anyone beat George of the start?

I am just laying out the facts as I see them. In MotoGP, as long as you are on the front row and get a good start, (except Marky, he gets .... starts and still wins the ......), you are in good shape.

Not taking anything away from Rossi. Had a great lap and deserves the pole.

For example?
What's the basis of your analysis?
Some quotes? Some stats?

The last time Valentino ousted Jorge on the last lap of qualifying was in qualifying for a certain race at Sepang last year.

The importance of the pole is if it is reflective of his race pace, but more so that he likely won't have to fight through the Ducatis and others to get to the contenders.

He may well win the race, but I would be very surprised if he leads the whole race from pole a la Lorenzo or Stoner. If he does, props to him, an old dog really will have learnt a new trick.

And I bet that if this were to happen there will be no calls of 'but he could have passed' as instead it will be 'Vale was to good', and the even bigger one, I bet there are very few if any statements such as 'that was a boring race, what with no overtakes for the lead'.
