I wouldnt be surprised if MotoGP does the same once their current contract expires.....and some other USA venue comes courting Dorna....
 
Wow. Wasn't one of the primary reasons COTA was built was for Formula 1?

What other venues in the United States would make for a good MotoGP track?
 
they have been trying to get a race in new jersey for years... 6 months ago everyone was saying that Vegas was going to get the race... COTA has a contract for 10 years to host F1 races, and so far the State of Texas has not had a problem kicking in close to $30 million a year to host this race.

I would love to see a race in new york, but given how the economics of F1 work, a one off street race is just not practical because Bernie gets all the money.
 
Not saying it absolutely won't happen, but I'll believe it when I see it. F1 will have to get a lot more popular in the US before I see this happening.

Yeah but once the 10yr contract is up (And Bernies pockets are lined) he looks out for the next highest bidding schmuck
