"Meanwhile, Honda Gresini’s Toni Elias is expected to sign for a new Suzuki satellite team that will be formed for 2008 by Jorge Martinez 'Aspar', Spain’s former 80 and 125cc world champion and now a team owner in the 125 and 250cc classes, with Suzuki's former 500cc world champion Kevin Schwantz working as a team advisor. It will be a one-rider team running on Bridgestone tyres like the factory Suzukis, and the launch could be as soon as next weekend at the Catalunya round in Barcelona. "

Interesting, when they say launch do they mean the bike will be on the grid? if so who will ride it?

"Good move for Elias, elbow sliders for him and Hopper.

It would be a waste for Hopper to go to Kwak he just seems to be getting in the groove at Suzuki IMO.

money talks!

So Gresini could be about to lose both their riders for '08, if the Melandri-Ducati rumours are true. Bugger

That aint the issue, I just doubt they'll find anyone of Melandri (and to a lesser extent Elias) quality

This could be a chance for Michel Fabrizio

I heard that Honda Gresini are considering to sign James Toseland for next season in Moto GP. Please sign James Toseland as us brits really need a british rider in the main Moto GP class.

Melandri is being linked to Kawasaki as well, but like Hopper i hope he doesnt actually go there.

hanspree already sponsor gresini so it would seem like a natural path for JT to move there.

honda dont want to do anymore bikes in moto gp so ten kate would have to replace somebody and there is no news of gresini, konica minolta or lcr leaving honda so i doubt there is room for them.

Arent Alistare Suzuki the ones threatening defection to motoGP as a punisment for the Flamingo brother's Ducati fetish? Suzuki might have to start mass producing GSVs. Look out Honda

Interesting, but lets not forget that in the RGV period, it seemed like every year Garry Taylor announced that Suzuki would be running 3 bikes in the next season. Never happened, at least not for a full season.

Could be different if it's a whole new team coming in, but, it's gonna take a huge cash injection to put another Suzuki on the grid. I think it's gonna take a big name with a lot of sponsorship clout to do that.

Suzuki aren't like HRC, I dunno if they could fund the repair bills for Elias for a season!

Pete

Jorge Martinez seems quite adept at gaining backing.. If he runs the new Suzuki team maybe Telefonica Movistar could sponsor them again? Like they did for Gibbers and Roberts Jnr..
