and Michelin developmental consultant. Anyone see a conflict of interest with an employee of one of the competing manufacturers and best friends of one of the competitors[ who rides for the same manufacturer] playing a pivotal role in the developing the tire that will be used in the championship


Colin Edwards set to begin Yamaha testing role - | Motorcycle Sport | MotoGP News | MotoGP Results | MCN



The 40-year-old will now become test rider for Yamaha, with a specific role of developing the YZR-M1 around new Michelin tyres, which will be raced in MotoGP in 2016.

The experienced double World Superbike champion will also play a pivotal role in development of Michelin’s new spec tyres, though he will be contracted to Yamaha.

Former factory Yamaha rider with experience on an M1 using Michelin tyres. Will be interesting to see how it goes.

Does anyone else feel like Dorna had a hand in Edwards being a test rider for michelin tires?

Get a Yamaha guy testing the new control tires and being a yamaha test rider. Get the most advantage to Yamaha so it's not 14 wins a season for marc for the next 8 years.

I think you guys are over thinking it.
It says he will help develop the M1 around the Michelin tires, not the reverse.
He's working for Yamaha, not Michelin

Honda could persuade Michelin to hire a rider of their own with GP experience to develop their bike around the tyres or is it the other way around....

I wonder are there any other American gp riders or ex champions past their sell by date that ride or recently rode for Honda?
