Me too. Aero is a money pit, so there goes your cost savings. Spoke to Eskil Suter about it at Sachsenring, he dismissed the whole thing, though, said there's no big gains to be made. Others are less convinced.
 
Horsepower makes heat and the Desmo certianly makes the ponies. Interesting solution for creating airflow over the radiators.
 
I've just seen pictures of the 1979 RG500 Suzuki with similar winglets.

Probably a miserable chap at the time for good reason. 75 and 76 being very dry years he didn't sell much hay

Theres somethong odd about that picture too, Iknow he was a tall chap, but in that picture he is also a tad "potbellied" suggesting its a shot from later years than his GP years.??? Could have been a retro ride?

Not sure BM,I think the Texaco Heron colours finished about 1979 but thats off the top of my head.I remember Hartog riding under a private sponsor or two at Mallory Park,Race of the Year I think.

Funny that,everytime Sheene started to dominate at these international races,there was always an up and coming rider to make life hard for him such as Steve Baker,Hartog and Pat Hennen too.

I saw both of Nicky Hayden's bikes up close, one had winglets and one didn't.
