If this annalist is correct, Capirossi is better than Bayliss. In gp of course.

The last time Bayliss turned laps on the Desmosedici he embarrassed the Grand Prix paddock by dominating the 2006 MotoGP finale with a flag-to-flag win as a wild-card entry. Oddly enough, Bayliss was subbing for the injured Sete Gibernau.

I am a huge fan of Bayliss both in WSBK and as a bloke, and greatly enjoyed his victory in the last race of 2006, a race in which Capirossi finished second. That was one race though, and Capirossi won 8 premier class races and several lower class championships, one of which was admittedly not very creditable. Chris Vermeulen is not better than Casey Stoner because he beat him in that one wet race.
