Ducati bizarre excuse

apparently this happened to Rossi at Jerez in practice...or I think I read that elsewhere.

They need to fix it ASAP.

They shouldnt let the bikes receive any signals, if the track transponder goes out we can potentially have a huge mess on the track. I don't know why you think it's a weird excuse, this is the way the bikes operate.

It can't be that hard to add a 'synch' or 'disable' function to the mapping menu. Given his low position, Nicky must have been tempted to pull into the pits and demand that the fools "Fix this damn thing!" before heading back out on the track to set some proper laps.

It’s a weird excuse because its rare, unusual, and it shows just how vulnerable their system has become. On top of that, it could open the door to jamming intervention, if this wasn't already.

Rare? not for ducati, they have the most poorly engineered bike on the grid with a parts count in the hundreds over their rivals. Remember when JB first got a look at the bike he also wanted that addressed. Even the fit of the fairings on the Duc have been described as having a poor fit. No jamming going on here it's just a broken part, Rossi just had a similar failure so now they know the life cycle of that part as they were probably acquired at the same time. The bikes have over 114 electronic sensors, .... is going to break. This does bring up a point of reducing the cost of racing though, I've heard Duc uses cheaper sensors compared to yamaha and it's why their bikes break down a lot.

I don't recall a whole lot of breakdowns or DNFs...where did you get your info?

Years of watching GP, mostly while Nicky was with Duc. the only reason I pay attention to them in the first place. How many times have you seen the ducs going back to the pits with a problem during practice, they seem to get lucky and mostly have technical problems during practice. For the rest you can google some JB interviews, I'm not on my regular computer and don't have my list of gp links handy.

About the same number of times I have seen every other team going back to the pits during practice... after all, that's what practice is about, n'est ce pas?

If things were so shoddy at Ducati, surely it would be showing up during the race, no?
