Ducati and Fortuna Honda Replacements?

A

Alex

Well following on after the Catalunya race, one now has to wonder who Ducati and Fortuna Honda will use as replacement riders while Marco, Sete and Loris recover from the evil of Catalunya. I haven't heard anything about it so far but we'll surely be geting some feedback over the next few days or so as the next race is in only 6 days time!

yeah will be interesting to see who they get. anyone any ideas?

i'm gutted because assen will be my first race and those guys wont be there. and hopefully going donington but i doubt some of them will be ready for that either. at least they seem to be ok though.. thats the most important thing

Jeremy McWilliams, Jurgen Van der Goorbegh, Olivier Jaque, Vittoriano Guareschi, Shinichi Itoh, David de Gea ...

We might even see Micky Doohan or Agostini, maybe even Mamola!

See Teo's list. Ducati will fieild Itoh and Guareschi as long as Cappers and Gibbers are deemed unfit to ride.

Well they've both broken bones and Capirossi is suffering from internal bleeding so I pretty much doubt they'll be back for the next couple of races.

You'd be pretty surprised as to what riders can do. Hopkins rode today's race with a suspected broken ankle and injured back.

Sete and Marco are out from assen race but there are some chances that Loris ride the ducati at the dutch race.
Poor sete has such a bad luck: Gibernau's ambulance was involved in a crash on the way to the hospital, although it was able to complete its journey.
Capirossi underwent scans to his chest to check that the crash hadn't aggravated the injuries he sustained in a crash during last October's Australian GP, and also to his abdomen, because he was struck in that area during today's accident. None of the scans gave any cause for concern and he could be fit for next weekend's Dutch TT at Assen

Riders are usually really tough guys, wimps don't make it to pro bike racing. So I think that they'll race if they can.

Reminds me of Fonsi Nieto in 250cc in Silverstone a few years ago, the guy had broken both ankles in the previous race, he was on a wheelchair in the paddock and he needed his mechanics to lift him onto the bike, the guy took an elephant dose of painkillers and made it to the end of the race.

Or Doohan, living on over the counter painkillers for an injury that usually requires Morphene, of King Kenny and his Broken back, definately hardcore .......s.

So Ducati is set, who will Gresini field? Will OJ ride the bike if he`s still working for Kawasaki? Don`t think so. Dont know about Juggernaught Van Goodyear or whaterver his name is, but him and McWilliams are both past their prime. Will they give it to SBK riders like they gave Bayliss`s RCV to last year when he was out? CV and Kiyo rode that bike. Well CV`s obviously not an option, JT has replaced him at Ten Kate, and he`s fast, but he`s no Vermulen. My guess is Kiyonari will be on Melandri`s bike for the Dutch TT.

It will be very interesting to see who steps up, although I am quite confident that Capirossi will recover in time (here's hoping!)

Melandri remained on the ground for some time before being taken off the track on a stretcher and with a neck brace. Finally he was found to have a dislocated collarbone and cuts and bruises on his neck which should not prevent him from racing in Assen, the Netherlands, on Saturday.

Capirossi, who at first was thought to have internal haemorrhaging, only suffered abdominal cuts and bruises and will also be able to ride in the Netherlands.

It's nothing clear and official on the two riders regarding that they can ride at assen. Don't know how reliable are the sources.... I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Nah seriously does anyone think ol' Max could take a replacement ride?

He is sponsor friendly with Marlboro?

Nah... head says no one would want him but i'd love to see him back for a guest appearance!!!

Capirossi will race Saturday, and probably Melandry too. Gibernau can't race in Assen, he probably will race in Donington.
Gibernau's replacement will be Ito...
