I was suprised that Dovi came out with this. Casey got belted about the ears for public outbursts after Laguna and now Dovi complains about JT who rode one of his best races...

Andrea Dovizioso - Seventh
`I feel I made a tremendous race. If I had not had to recover from last after being pushed off the track at the start, we could have had a podium. At the start I kept on the left for the first turn, Lorenzo was almost alongside me and then he moved outside. This resulted in me finishing on the grass. From here I started a great comeback, even if in those first laps I could not push 100%, but instead I followed Valentino Rossi who also had the pace to gain positions. With Lorenzo we could have moved towards third position, but Toseland was too aggressive and a little dangerous while fighting for the lead of the group. The last ten laps the tyres were finished and I was not able to push anymore. At one of the corners, I had to go wide to avoid Toseland, who I was lining up to overtake, but because of this Nakano made it past us both. I am sorry to have lost the fourth place because it was a reality today.´

Legitimate gripe or should he harden up?

Legitimate gripe or should he harden up?

Comment:

Casey took a beating b/c he complained about Rossi.

Dovi is going after an easier target. Toseland doesn't have a legion of rabid fans.

I really wish the incident were televised. Without footage, I can't tell whether Dovi has a legitimate complaint or whether he still has sour grapes from early in the season.

I am shocked at these comments. All I saw was good, hard racing. Toseland looked to have a lot of confidence in his setup.
Perhaps Dorna can insist that indicators or hand signals must be used before any manoeuvre is undertaken.
Maybe these whinging pups should watch or indeed have to enter a few World Superbike rounds .

Dovi is copping a pasting in some of the 'pro British' forums about the comments but in teh wider forums has thus far gotten under the radar a bit with these comments.

Without having seen the footage it is hard to determine whether his gripe was justified or not but as I argued with Stoner at Laguna, if he (Dovi) feels Toseland was dangerous or unfair then he hast he right to make the comments. It is not the first time we have heard this in 2008 about Toseland (and that is not saying he is dangerous) so maybe his style is getting a few feathers ruffled.

Personally, if the incident as Dovi describes it is the one of concern than he should (IMO) HTFU as it sounds very similar to VR's last pass on Toseland where he took the inside through t1 and then rode it wide on exit blocking the path that JT was on and had used in the past. Nothing dirty, unfair or dangerous, just smart racing.

Footage will tell it though.

As others have said, it's hard to say if Dovi has a legitimate gripe without being able to see the said manoeuvre. I saw James put a couple on Vale that were fine though.
So therefore I'll sit on the fence and get haemorrhoids.

It’s difficult to make rational statements when you’re frustrated.
Toesland rode the track beautifully, entering the corners on a line that made it extremely difficult for anyone to pass and exiting the corners cutting across the line that any rider would be on should he try a different line. He was on a slower bike than those around him but he stuck it in there and made Rossi think really hard about how he was going to get passed, and even when he did JT came right back.
It took quite a few laps for VR to put in a move that would stick, which he eventually did. So it was going to be interesting to see how the others were going to do it.
JT was almost perfect except for two mistakes that cost him places. Dovi did get passed, had the opportunity to get away but JT was relentless.
IMO Dovi was very frustrated and was pissed that he didn’t make the fourth spot and aimed his resentment at JT.
Justified? We didn’t see what happened, racing incident or not? Hard to say.
Pity but these guys are human the same as Stoner, Rossi, Hayden Peders etc right down to Westy.
But then again it is possible that the media think they are onto something here.

He mentions he could have been fighting for a podium if he wasn't pushed out at the start.
Did he even look at the time sheets after the race?
I watched the live timing during the race and what I saw that only Rossi Stoner and
Hayden were in the 30's consistently. Whether on not he had a gripe he's a big giant flaming ..... to air it to the media.

I really like Dovi, but I do not agree with his opinion this time. Thanks to Toseland, we at least saw some excitement on the track. Was he aggressive? Yeah, kinda. Through the line? Definitely not.
Toseland was brilliant this time, reminded me to Rossi in Laguna. Almost impossible to pass and a real fighter...I am gonna put him amongst my fav riders.
Sometimes I got the feeling, that the MotoGP-guys are little princesses beside WSB-men.

I think we need more talented guys from WSB to spice MotoGP up a little.

So it was Dovi that was giving James the eye

I too like Dovi, he is a future champ and he rode a great race yesterday coming from the last to finish seventh is too bad considering the battle he was mixed up in. He could have finished fourth but no way did he have the pace to be on the podium

these comments from dovi were made whilst still calming down from "the heat of battle", so i am prepared to give him a pass this time. much like stoner @laguna. he will probably regret saying these things now that he has had time to think it through more clearly and maybe will not be as hasty to say it again without justification. still, he has tangled with jt before so maybe a feud is developing?

hehe.

harden up there will be more of this next season once he gets on the factory bike more peeps will be out to make him choke his team mate for one

Toseland got a lot of coverage during the race and all I could see was a determined rider trying to at least hold his position. Rossi didn't complain and enjoyed the battle with Toseland.

Dovizioso needs to man up. Wuss.

Great ride by Toseland. I didn't see the last move but all the footage I saw had him racing as clean as can be. Even gave Rossi a run for his money...for a lap or two then GOODBYE.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (roger-m @ Oct 6 2008, 03:32 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>i say harden up and stop ....... whining, hard passes are all part of the sport imo.
+1^^^ i like the kid but no cryin aloud.

You don't block and hold up a rider who is signed up with a factory ride for next year!!!! That was so uncalled for by JT!!! He's not paid to do that!!!

HRC and Repsol may have already gone to Dovi's head.

Well done JT!!!!!!

Didn't Toesland catch crap from Dovi or was it Vermi after Jerez, when he was supposedly riding aggressively? At the time I think JT just said, hey that's racing. What happened to him being the perfect English gentleman, he should be kindly stepping aside like a back marker to let these guys through for crying out loud, jeez.

Totally agree Roger. In fact, I think I said the exact same thing you said after a race I saw, I think it was...uhm, oh yeah, Turkey.

Anyway, I just finished watching last year's WSBK race in France. It was the season finale. I really suggest you guys look up a torrent and find this race. You will see what "close" racing is really like!

Max Biaggi and Troy Corser touched so much I though Corser would get HIV.

It really sucks that in MotoGP, two guys even come close to touching (not even touching, just near) and we got a few kids crying about being too "dangerous".

Man up Dovi, Repsol Honda is already booked up with a whiner.

YEah I think that Dovi is feeling a little bit high on his horse even as much as I like the dude it is unfounded unless we all missed something. I think Dovi among some others there have some ill feelings to say the least about the riders who come up through means other than 125's and 250's. So he feels entitled. .... at least Toseland has a championship on a big bike that is as powerful if not more than the 800cc bikes. Good Race JT and all those guys fighting for that last podium spot. .... even Nakano did well but he should since he is on for the most part a factory ride.
