The thought of no US riders in GP has spooked Dorna. As bad as i dislike Dorna, i would welcome them over DMG. At least Dorna is pro factory

Rider Files | Dorna?s Top Secret Plan for Road Racing in America

The Blog is mistaken about next year having NO American riders.....there will be Nicky....unless his wrist injury is worse that is being reported.....

Even if Dorna does start a new series, i do hope they trule make it continental and not just focus on USA centric....cause we will just end up with the same riders we have in DMG today....new blood is needed, and not just paycheck jockeys afraid to step up!

What I find most interesting about this is that it will be run by Wayne Rainey.
American race fans have fallen under the spell of Kevin "Save the Snake Oil" Schwantz as the torchbearer and savior of American racing. He hasnt done .... but mug for the cameras and fight legal battles to get his name on the marquee. He would have you believe he is the personal mentor of every young up and coming racer. Hes a glorified truck stop lot lizard trolling the parking lot looking for the next meal ticket to blow.
Im sure Dorna recognized this ,(much like Suzuki recognized it and refused to let him manage their GP team) and put together competent people like Rainey to help put it together.
Mark my words, two things are sure to happen in this world. Osama Migs Laden will one day strap on a suicide vest and pay a visit to the AMA paddock, and Kevin SchwanTmz will somehow try to weasel his name into the creation of Dornama

Superbike racing is irreparable in its current guise. International motorcycle racing has two 1000cc classes and two 600cc classes. Production racing has one of the least efficient business models in the racing industry. Until this era of confusion is brought to an end, production racing will continue its slide into obscurity.

Furthermore, if Dorna go over the top of DMG by starting a North American series, Dorna can eliminate the possibility of running events at any ISC venues. In other words, no more Daytona 200, and no access to the Florida bike market. Doesn't sound like a particularly realistic rumor, does it? Unless DMG sell out, Dorna are probably not starting an NA series.

Regardless, it's sad the FIM has taken so long to act. They should have been scrambling to fix SBK racing when the German, Japanese, and Australian series started coming apart.

You talk like thats a bad thing. Let DMG take their Rovals and stick them where the sun dont shine. Daytona 200, who gives a ...., not the fans. There may have been 2500 people inside Daytona not counting riders, teams and track officials. A real racing series need to be racing on real roadracing racetracks.

Daytona has its draw because there happens to be 100,000 bikers already there celebrating bike week. Its a gimmicky race anyway.
Homestead has been on the calendar twice in 17 years and the last event 2 years ago wasnt renewed due to lack of fans. I believe Auto Club speedway is off the calendar as well (Although I'm not sure because the AMA is invisible the last 2 years)
Like Povol said, if they want to create a legitimate feeder series for GP they need to stop racing on Nascar ovals

That's what CART said about the Indy 500 and it's what ALMS said about the Daytona 24.

Dorna wouldn't just be missing the 200, either. Southern California and Florida would be inaccessible. If Dorna cannot convince DMG to cut their losses, a production series in North America will probably not happen.

I doubt its going to take much convincing for DMG to cut bait on AMA Road Racing, unless they are using it as some kind of tax write off for the profitable arms of that empire

The motorcycle industry doesn't care about Florida. They set shop at Daytona because it's convenient that a hundred thousand bikers happen to be there.
Supercross, the premier 2 wheeled sport in the country barely recognizes Florida as well

I just starting watching AMA racing last year and went to my first AMA race in Daytona and will be riding up to Alabama for next weeks race and really enjoy the races but the production of the tv/internet coverage needs to improve. Last year was so much better. Hopefully it improves along with getting more races. It's unbelievable that AMA only has 6 races this year. It's really quite sad.

I know many of you have seen this organization fall over the years because of DMG etc. and hope Dorna and step in and take over. Will be patiently waiting for a savior.

Dorna has a 4 bike championship which has fewer viewers this year than last. Four of their races are in Spain trying to prop up that failing economy.

Between their TV negotiations, their Youtube video banning effort, the Spanish rider program and their MotoGP forum censorship one could assume they have a full plate to manage and not enough twilight.

Would not want Dorna stepping into anything........well maybe a cow paddy would be OK

You might be right....but at the rate at which the US racing series is going they will be left with maybe 3 race meeting a year by 2016, and GPs might have no Americans....So any attempt to fix the US road racing schene to then foster your american talent would be good in my opinion.....
