You may of heard today that F1 return to Donington park in 2010. It was also announced that £100m of changes and improvements are to be carried out over 5 years.
Does this mean the scrapping of the last section of the track ? finally rid of the ...... esses, melborne loop and goddards?
Why would MotoGp even think about considering moving to silverstone when track improvements like this are happening ? Is this dorna once again chasing the money like Doha ?

This is good news, especially now as moto gp and formula 1 are within travelling distance for me

.
One thing donnington definetly needs is better specator facilities. I dont imagine for one second the 14 year old schoolgirl lewis hamilton fans will want to get into the nitty gritty of the donnington crowd.

thats fantastic news, altho its still a good circuit it could do more to be in line with other European circuits.

On hearing this news l hope the owners of Donington are just as keen to keep the contract for MotoGP as they have been to get hold of the F1 contract.

well, i live within walking distance of donno and im praying for it to be moved to silverstone , why?
ive only ever seen one good race at donno since it came here, the year gardener won, 92/93 ish if memory serves me well......
i have no idea why, but the track dosen't seem to encourage close racing ( tho i've seen plenty of close clubmans races years ago, when they used to support grassroots racing.........)
silverstone however, i cant remember a bad race there, canna comment on before silv......i hated the IOM and celebrated when it lost the gp's

by far the old spa francorchamps circuit, watching phil read give gianfranco bonera a high speed slipstream "tow " down the straight was a never to be forgotten sight and sound.
oh, and the proper Assen too , used to be run the week before..............
my all-time favourite rider is KR but i think he would have been beaten to the world championship by another american if that said american hadn't raced at the IOM and gone through a dry stone wall..........
funny, you don't see todays riders campaigning for the airfence to be taken away and replaced by bluestone granite walls....................
the IOM is ok for those that want it, but its nothing short iof insane to compel someone to race there for W/C points..............
its just a stupid place to die , to quote KR when he heard about tom herron

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (convertmel @ Jul 6 2008, 11:26 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>tho' of course, herron was killed at the NW 200 , another roads cuircit

I think you mean Pat Hennon !

Hopper hit the wall at assen only last week, if he would of gone head first i think he would of been killed.

Horses for courses. Your right in saying IOM is for head the balls. I wouldnt do it, but i love to watch it.

you are confusing two different parts of my post
it was indeed pat hennen who in my opinion would have beaten roberts to the title and been first american, sadly not to be tho .
and tom HERRON was an irish rider , a good friend of roberts , who should never have been allowed to race with hand injuries at a circuit as dangerous as NW200

oh, and pat hennen is still with us, so i'm told ........................

Definitely, it should always be a standalone event

The Donington losing MotoGP rumours have been around for a while, with Silverstone as the commonly mentioned replacement, and now that Silverstone has officially announced no more F1 what big named racing have they got to replace it? MotoGP to Silverstone sounds more like it will happen. Both circuits then retain a major racing championship. It will the end of an era for the Donington track though.

That the fans were disgraceful?

Too right they were. Another area Motogp can learen from F1.

they knew it was .......... just stuck their heads in the sand. needed bernie to make them upgrade the joint before they got the F1

The minority of people giving stoner a bit of grief were very disrespectful and chances are they were more interested in getting pissed than watching the racing which to me doesnt show true moto gp fans at all, I personally didnt want to miss a trick, my eyes were peeled throughout the entire weekend. But like i say this was a minority, the majority of people around me directly infront of the podium cheered stoner on and showed respect for all the riders out there during and after the race.
