Could Stoner or Hayden replace Bayliss as the Ducati WSBK King?

Well I thought i'd bite the bullet and post my first debate. and the post below in the 'Will Hayden win for Ducati?' got me asking.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>"Will Hayden ever win a race for Ducati?"

Yes.

Yes in 2012 he will win win the WSBK championship for them.

In MotoGP 2009. No he won't win a race for Ducati.

Moderators, I wasn't sure if this should be in the WSBK forum but seeing as both are current MotoGP riders I thought it ok?

Ok, a lot of 'if's' here I admit. But say Stoner carries on being championship material for a good few years with Ducati, and Hayden doing whatever he does (be it winning championships, races, consistent podium finisher and good team guy or a Melandri...i'm hoping for race wins
<
) and if Haga does the same thing (either wins WSBK on the Ducati in '09 or 2010 and retires, or doesnt get on with it and retires etc) can anyone see Stoner or Hayden being moved to WSBK by Ducati and becoming the next Troy Bayliss? By this I mean a rider who pretty much dominates on a Ducati and stays with them their entire WSBK carrer?
I don't like to look too far into the future but think its unlikely to be Stoner with his GP breeding and performance on the Duke so far as he is liekly to be in GP for a good while yet, but if Hayden is with the team say 3-5 years (and i'm not making any assumptions yet) with either a great or average period with would he fit in well on a Ducati superbike?

Again this is all VERY speculative and as a Hayden fan I hope he has many successful years still in MotoGP with Ducati but i'd be interested on the view of the more knowledgeable forum members.
<u>Finally. #41, Pinky or whomever you are, if you start writing .... on here about how Nicky Hayden didn't deserve the 2006 championship I will ask the moderators to remove the thread. Its my post so my rules!!!!</u>

Seriously I would have to say NO.

I cannot imagine that either Casey or Nicki would want to be in WSBK, it is a step backwards, that is why WSBK champs like Toseland, Edwards and once upon a time Bayliss took the step up.

Bayliss was pragmatic and took the step back but until they are forced James and Colin will stay put. Nicki has shown he can ride in a SBK series (AMA) and in motogp as well with the ’06 title, Casey however is an apprentice of the European school – up through 125’s, 250’s and then the premier class. Apart from his early years of flat track he really has no business in WSBK especially given his success (16 wins in the last two seasons) and the title in ’07 on the 800's.

Right now Ducati has a rider who I think to be the most talented Japanese rider on board (Haga) and there are SBK guys waiting in the wings everywhere. The guys from the U.S will talk (type) your ears off pumping Ben Spies numbers up, and I think rightfully so, in addition there are guys in the BSB and Aussie guys (who have an awesome record in this type of competition) like Glenn Allerton, the Stauffer brothers (Jamie and Dan), Jason O’Halloran and so and so forth that would be looking for the call up.

I think Ducati will put their eggs in other baskets so to speak

I agree with andy

I dont think hayden or stoner would want to go to wsbk in the first place, or that ducati wants either one of them there. if one of them is more likely to go, its hayden, and if he goes he probably will do very good in wsbk.

hayden will have to make a move in wsbk very soon because his time in MotoGP is limited. he had to much fantastic chances and in return he delivered practically nothing. so ih he want to save his career wsbk is only option for him.

i seem to remember that he signed a contract with ducati for one year on a moto gp bike right?
so why is he going to be in WSBK soon then? someone who has a lot more insight into rider talent seems to think he is worth hiring and they were the people who hired stoner too remember.

he will be failure at ducati, that's clear after first test. so, what after that? suzuki? kwak? more shameful seasons? or move in wsbk where he could be a real contender?

Complete clarity is only achieved by those who have convinced themselves that they can really see through the fog of their own existence.

i am assuming that these are the valencia test times?

so you have based haydens whole 2009 season on testing times posted in 2008?
you should compete in the special olympics long jump, because that is one helluva leap for a mentally deficient person to make...

Nick for sure is a future SBK Duc World champion.....But Stoner??? are you kidding me? He cried like a little ..... over ONE pass in ONE race... Imagine the tear flow if he were to get those EVERY race in WSBK

Look Tamada6 or whoever you are, ok we get it that you don't like Hayden but stay on the friggin thread!! Unless you answer the question with clear reasoning isnterad if using every post to insight your 'Hayden is ....' issues on everyone then dont post at all. And like a 2 day test is going to tell all right? Who was fighting Rossi for quickest test times in preseason 2007? It certainly wasn't Stoner, who then preceded to dominate the championship so you can close your little rule book on that one pointdexter.

Cheers for the responses guys, i'm pretty much in agreement and bar for the occasional prat its a good thread.

Even more to the point, these are the people who tried to hire Hayden in 2006 and only signed Stoner after Nicky stayed with Honda.

Back to the question, it is one big if if if. If Hayden does end in WSBK 1,2,3-10 years down the line, I do expect him to do well with his riding style.
However I wouldn't be surprised, considering how he has spoken about the travel and having to be in Europe so much and barely being home, that he calls it quits after MotoGP, goes back to Kentucky, enjoys his money and starts a racing school or something with his bros.

poor kids.

only thing they can learn from hayden in that case is how to be a sore loser and blame everyone for own mediocricity.

i bet both could ride the wheels off a wsb bike but i doubt either would go there, its like a demotion in rank.
im not saying gp riders are better im just saying gp is supposed to be the pinicle so any thing else would be seen as less.

Very true, it is MotoGP's retiring home. With more and better racing...

I have to say, I really liked Toby Moody's proposal (in Autosport's online magazine) to put the two series together. Especially now that the 250s will be going 600s and sponsorship issues are arrising it would be two days of mad racing with MotoGP being the headliner. And possibly riders doing both classes.

dreams on

I would have agreed with you two a few years ago..not anymore...MotoGP is not as good as WSBK since the change to 800s...
