Could F1 return to Nordschleife, the real nurburgring ?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (phleg @ Jul 13 2008, 03:51 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>It's NEVER going to happen. There's far too much to change, and why?

If for history's sake, why not use the old banking at Monza? Or reuse the larger Hockenheim?

Well, the older Hockenheimring was tore up and is now just a hole cut through the forest. No roads are left.

The tree that was planeted were Jim Clark lost his life is still there, but will soon be lost forever.

That makes little difference since the Nordschleife would need to have a completely new surface over its entire length, as well as having the surroundings reworked to an almost un-imaginable degree.

Which would have taken the greatness out of the circuit.

Have ever driven or rode on the track phleg ? Even on a game form ie gran turismo ?
If this is yes then surely you must see its one of the most exciting challenging tracks ever to exist, well apart from the Isle of Man.
Its not about history phleg, its the challenge ! Could Lewis Hamilton concentrate for long enough to do a 6 min lap ? The fast flowing corners ? the topography of the track over 14 miles ?
Thats why !
Christ imagine MotoGP around there !

Well essentially a piece of history that still exists would have to be seriously defaced at a huge expense if F1 were to go back there. If you consider that Bernie wont let Silverstone stay on the list because of the money difference between it and the Asian tracks, going back to the old Nurburgring is way out of the question.

Yeah I have played it on Forza, and although it's a good track, it's not mindblowing though.

I'm also sure if anyone broke down on the back section near the karousel, it'd take years to get back to the pits.

No, it will not happen, it was not good enough for safety standards in the 80's so it's totally out of question now.
It's too long, too narrow, too bumpy, it has banked corners, lack of exit areas, would require so many marshalls, doctors, cameras etc to cover the whole track ....

Still qualyfying in that track should be cool to watch!
