Can Yamaha gives Spies Rossi's bike?

Interesting how you say Spies job is to learn how to RUN a motogp bike. We view things based upon how you place in races. The teams seem to view rookie performance on how well they are able to adapt to the limited setup variables available to them. Spies was surprised at how little he was able to tinker with the setup as compared to SBK. At this point would you say that Yamaha is just training him to see if he is able understand and implement the setup process of a motogp bike?

I think they are watching him to see how well he adapts to a MotoGP bike, how well he adapts to the tires (the difference between the Bridgestones and Pirellis is huge), how well he and his team cope with setting up the bike, and getting it to work in lots of different situations. When Rossi goes to Ducati, there's a very good chance he will take a big chunk of his crew, and so Spies will take at least House and Woody into the factory team, and so they need to learn the ropes in MotoGP too. Yamaha are preparing the whole crew to step up.

Krop. What happened to your site? It seems as if you are nowhere to be found anymore and Emmet is the only one there. I greatly enjoyed reading your articles, especially the race report. Now it seems as if it's primarily a news site. I used to go there to get information and opinion that the other moto sites wouldn't have. To be honest I never go there anymore because it's become ordinary.

That Emmett guy is me. Had to switch to use my real name to get taken seriously. Dorna would not have taken me seriously if I had continued to use my pseudonym. As for the race reports, the day I used to spend writing them is now lost to travel. I just don't have the time, at least, not until I can hire more staff to do the news stuff.

Good point about the opinion and analysis though. I shall try to put more time into that. As for the news site, I try and select the news I think is actually important (rather than just recycling press releases) and then add analysis to the news story. Thanks for the input, I appreciate it.

I was aware of the emmett/kropotkin thing, and still think your site is really good, with information more reliable and less sensationalised than almost anywhere else. I like that you are getting more comments now, and in general approve the moderation to prevent outright slanging matches, although I sometimes find them diverting on here if conducted with a sense of humour.

I enjoy a good slanging match too. It's just too hard to police. On a forum, slanging matches are generally kept pretty reasonable, because the members all know each other, online at least. That means it's usually done with a little bit more humor. But on unmoderated news sites (Crash.net comes to mind) with no requirement to register to comment, it's just strangers shouting at each other, and that generally lowers the tone and removes the humor.

Well done Krop. You had me fooled.

I thought you handed it off to someone else and my loyalty to the Krop brand sent me packing.

No worries, you're back in my bookmarks now
