BSB Tracks

Jeeze the tracks are awful in BSB. Most of the time they look like they aroung going around a half mile mini track with gigantic bikes. Seriously I thought we had some bad tracks here in the U.S. Now hearing that BSB will be the only other series besides wsbk to run 1098r is a load of crap. The only reason why racing is closer in BSB than in AMA is the tracks are so short and tiny. Its almost laughable with those chicanes at Mallory park. There are other tracks too where they can barely show the power of the bikes and guardrails are basically on the tracks. I have a better track near my house although only 1.5 miles long but is made to use motorcycles to their potential. Tehy might as well run 250s next to those superbikes in BSB and they would easily give them a go.

Interesting perspective. You'll probably get a lot of people disagreeing with you as others have nominated the uk tracks as some of their favourites in the world. Also have you seen any tracks other than mallory park? I maybe wrong but i believe mallory is the shortest on the calendar. I also remember it was one of my brothers favourite tracks and the bus stop (assumes its gone now) was so exciting (but dangerous). Mallory Park and Cadwell Park are the only ones i can think of with guardrails too...

...close to the track and something should be done about that. There are many much longer tracks than mallory and I think you should have a closer look. The place where ama falls, if they are still like what i saw on tv ages ago, the tracks surfaces change, it's not like they were designed for racing, etc.

As for bikes needing long straights to use the full power of the bike? Exactly why does that matter? The skill needed to ride is greater without and long straights are seriously boring!

Btw. Just to contradict myself and
back your point up...there is another track called Lydden Hill in
England that is shorter than Mallory (laps under 50seconds),
slightly jokingly my favourite track on here as i don't have one,
but there was a contest called the lord of Lydden.

you can see
every corner at that track from one position which is great.

Size doesn't always matter mate. Big certainly isn't always better

Oh and your point on 250s - great idea - get proper race bikes back on track!!

^ Indeed!

Our tracks here have variety, had you actually watched a full season of BSB you would see we have a huge variety of tracks.

I assume it's easy to compare Silverstone and Brands Indy, isn't it?

/sarcasm

Oh and if you've looked at the layout of brands indy - have a closer look at a proper map of the circuit and you'll find another part called Brands GPeeeeeeeeeee and there's a whole other world out there

I find it amazing an American is taking the mick out of our tracks.

Our tracks are surfaced with TARMAC, not concrete slabs and overbanding!

To be honest I think the BSB series is one of the best in the world, both on a domestic and international scale. From the full blown GP circuits such as Donington, to the real character tracks such as Oulton Park, the guy who comes out on top truly is world class.

This theory is supported by its popularity, with far more people willing to travel to watch BSB than WSBK.

Yeah, this is basically it. I feel that safety should be addressed at Cadwell and Mallory, but we have a championship full of varied tracks all with plenty of character so lets not get into another AMA vs BSB debate just for the sake of it.

Yeah i agree we have .... surfaces on alot of the tracks in the U.S but Im only bashing the snmall tracks in the U.K just because they are a joke to have those 1 litre bikes on them. The riders cannot use the bikes to their full ability and I believe that if you cannot push it to the limit in the race why have those bikes on the track?

What do you call pushing to the limit? They may not get wide open in 6th gear but that doesn't mean its not a legitimate race track.

Absolutely agree Tom, or we may as well all go watch drag racing!

Well if they are only getting up to speeds of just over 100 mph thats pretty lame. And seeing the riders flick it in those ....... tiniest chicanes at mallory park and have the airfeence literally on the track makes things a little sketchy. I am a club racer myself and I thought my track was tiny.

well as a matter of fact at Snetterton on the rivet straight the bikes go up to 200 mph

The USA has, what, 300 million people compared to the UK's 50 million or so? Full credit to the poms, they love they're motorcycle racing even in that horrid English weather! I see AMA superbike races and the crowds look .........? In the UK there's fantastic crowds! I would like to know why this is? I salute the poms for their outstanding support of motorcycles/motorcycle racing in general! Am not sure about the yanks though!
