MotoGP News - 2015 Czech Republic MotoGP in doubt

Despite boasting the biggest crowd of the 2014 season, the Czech Republic MotoGP round is again in doubt.

A message on the Brno circuit website confirmed: “With an immediate effect, Automotodrom Brno suspends the sale of tickets for the Grand Prix of the Czech Republic 2015 due to insufficient funding for the event. The final decision on the Grand Prix of the Czech Republic 2015 will be published on 29 June. In case of cancellation of the event, all paid tickets will be refunded.”

That is despite a joint statement issued during last year's Czech event - which had also been in jeopardy due to funding fears - in which Dorna, the local government and Brno circuit spoke confidently of securing the 2015 round.

A weekend audience of 240,695 fans attended last year's Brno event. This year's race is due to be held on August 16.

Abraham snr-

Gee, what to do, put my money into holding a race that will make me money, or spend a ridiculous amount of coin so my son can keep slowly driving and crashing a 1m€ motorcycle every other weekend...

in my very humble opinion, this event epitomises motogp awesomeness. It's a ....... great round. Awesome track, awesome attendance, awesome cheapo, awesome beers, awesome shame if it goes. I love going here

That's why it had to go.

Dorna wasn't liking that.

Oh, that link is from the official site, so I take it with a grain of salt. I'll wait until it's on Kracpot's site. If he doesn't say I don't believe it.
