They could never hack it in F1. Who would believe they can take on Honda who have won more than one F1 Championship. Entering to MotoGp would be a baptism of fire for them.
Not even remotely true.
The BMW V10 in the Williams in the early 00's was a phenomenal engine. Best engine on the grid or close to it IMO. The problem with results was not BMW, but rather Williams themselves. BMW wanted to do a partnership deal similar to what Mercedes had with McLaren at the time where they I believe would have taken an ownership in Williams, but Patrick Head would have been out as Technical Director, something Frank was not okay with. So that pretty much ruined Williams for good because Frank had already lost his ability to have foresight about about a great many things by that point. When they finally bought out Sauber, they did get a lone race victory out of it, but the financial crisis hit and that was the end of their involvement in Formula One. BMW as far as Formula One goes was not a bad effort by any stretch of the imagination, and far better than a lot of the manufacturers who tried their hand as engine suppliers.
