It's a rumor that has been circling the globe for a few days now--that Max Biaggi has agreed to race a Suzuki in the World Superbike series with Camel support in 2006--but the heat from this one has increased exponentially in the last 24 hours.

The story goes that Biaggi will join the Alstare Suzuki team as a team-mate to Troy Corser in a deal that is to be announced tomorrow.

Whether the heat from this rumor is from the glow of an incoming bombshell news item or simply a large ball of methane gas is, at this time, unknown.

More Biaggi Rumours?

I just hate getting excited about rumours that arent true... and that happens a lot with Biaggi

Wonder if Max and Troy will have a punch up in the garage, it would be like watching two quadraplegics discussing the triple jump.

Well Max has made an arse of where ever he has gone why should this be any different. Be really good to see what level max is really at.

When he complained about the RCV, people were suspicious. They thought he was full of ...., but who's actually ridden one to compare? When he starts complaining about the Suzuki, every Gixxer 1000 owner in the world will KNOW he's full of ....

well when he first got the HRC seat he said well now there are no more excuses. Everyone will get to see what I can do on top machinery.

We we saw that all he did was complain..

IMO Biaggi is THE fastest ever.... mouth in motogp. You konw it was his sour attiutde that lost him a Honda ride, not his sour riding. He could have gone back to Pons even though he's no good. But everyone (Especially Honda) are just so sick of him complaining about technoligy that other riders are winning races with.

I've also read that rumour in Motociclismo. According to them ole Max has 3 options:

1) ten Kate Honda: The sponsor is happy because Winston and Camel belong to the same group, but Max said he would never EVER ride a Honda again, so ... not likely.

2) Caracchi Ducati: Caracchi would be avid to have Camel sponsorship, but Max doesn't reall fancy a private team.

3) Alstare Suzuki: Suzuki would field a 3rd bike for Max, they say this is the most likely option.

I've read some reports that say Alstare Suzuki is interesting in fielding a third bike but Biaggi isn't the rider they have in mind.

Beggars can't be chosers, max. Ten Kate was his best bet for any tiny chance he has of the WSBK championship. His riding aside, this guy is the most arrogant, stupid racer I've ever seen. One of the main reasons for his failure is inability to keep his bloody mouth shut

from his own website post:

Hi guys,
first of all I want to send you my best wishes for this new year.
It’s a while that I haven’t write you,
well I’m here to give you some news.
As you see from the pictures I’ve spent my Christmas holidays in the States.
I’ve training a lot with my Supermotard bike, taking advantage of the great weather conditions (around 20°C), then of course a bit of jogging and gym.
I have had the occasion to meet few friends that I didn't see for a long time and again this year I didn’t miss the first competition of the year of Supercross AMA.
An extremely exciting fighting among the great champions Ricky CARMICHAEL, James STEWART and CHAD Reed. As usual I had so much fun!
In these last two months I have read a lots of myself, so much and perhaps loads of incorrect reports, but I’ve decided to live it and not even to go in it for a reply, it doesn’t worth it.
As all of you already know I’ve have been put in this terrible situation by Honda and therefore I won't participate at the Championship MotoGP 2006.
The reasons? You will definitely read it in the special book that will be realized soon, with lots of truths never been revealed.

About the Superbike and all of your questions, you have to know guys that I have always appreciated this category, I also have few friends in there and they have all my respect. So I am considering this opportunity as a very good one.
The difficulties grow up with the time, in view of the fact that since December the 15th we were still trying to find an agreement with Kawasaki. So now the time in running out and the Superbike Championship will begin soon.
Right, in a week we will try to get back to you and let you know the ultimate news. Certainly if we add two more wheels, we could risk to do something totally different and maybe interesting... is not a bad idea isn’t it??!

what a (smart??) guy, he still is making money out of his firement with a book! I think we all saw this coming, no new news. would love to see him in the superbikes

officially ? i've read where the deal is done but no official annoucment yet.

MARCA (Spanish sports newspaper) said so, it's quite a reliable source. Anyway I'll wait for next week's MOTOCICLISMO (aka the Bible of Motorbike racing) to announce it.

According to www.superbikeplanet.com, the BBC is reporting Biaggi has officially signed to join Troy Corser, Yukio Kagayama and Fabien Foret on the Alstare Corona Suzuki team and will ride the no. 30 GSX-R 1000. Biaggi's first action on the machine will come 17-20 January at Philip Island when the Alstare Corona Suzuki team will kick off testing for 2006. Oh, thought I'd also mention that the Corona team won't be fielding the only bikes on the circuit. Mat Mladin will also be lapping his 2006 spec Gixxer during those days as well. Let the battle of Aussie SBK Champs begin, if only it were televised. Read the article in its entirety here.

The BBC is reporting this morning that famed Italian GP champion Max Biaggi signed a contract with Alstare Suzuki on Wednesday of this week, that he will race with the number thirty (Norick 'Yamaha Ride for Life' Abe uses Max's usual #3 in WSBK) and, most tantalizing, Biaggi will test with Corser, Kagayama and Mladin at Phillip Island.

There has been no official word from Suzuki regarding this development.

YOU beat me to it...here is the article you those who are too lazy to click the link..
