Haven't been online much today (dang, I actually had to work!!!) but I think I did get a glimpse of something about super-shinya joining Aprilia/Biaggi/SBK for next year. Thank you, Crash.net!

Wow, where did this one come from?? Go!!!!! Shinya!

He is one of my preferred riders, so I am happy for him....but, wouldn't it be a great marketing move to have placed an American Superbike rider (Zemke, maybe??) on your new 1000cc superbike? Y'know, seeing how the bigger bikes are more popular in the States than the smaller ones.... thoughts??

Man, oh man....WSBK is looking better and better for 2009!!

My sentiments exactly.
Sad to see Bayliss go, but next year should be good (BMW & Aprillia joining the series)

This is great news for a Nakano fan like me.

I thought he deserved a spot at Gresini in 09 over De Angelis and Elias, but that´s only my opinion.
VERY interesting for me to see if he (and Biaggi) can do something impressive already in 09.

Personally, I think it seems like riders from MotoGP gets more successful going to SBK, rather the other way around. It seems like 250cc is breeding more competetive MotoGP riders, and I wonder why that is...
Anyway, I hope that Nakano can adapt well.
What chances would you guys give Nakano and Aprilia (and Biaggi) in 09?

He has to change his riding style and ride like Nitro Haga. In recent years with the introduction of 800 cc Electronics-bike in Gp there was no fairing banging compare to WSBK.

But Checa,Barros and Biaggi proved that GP riders can adapt to WSBK easily.

Thanks for the input. Could you explain the fairing banging thingy for a motocycle tech noob like me?
I... didn´t get that at all, but guess it has something to do with different riding styles, due to different specs...?

If I got it right, then I fear that Nakano wouldn´t be the most talented rider in the aspects of adapting and change riding style. Hopefully I´m gonna be proven wrong.
New brand of bike again, new setups, new team, new track, new teammate, etc.

If he becomes competitive during the first few races, I´d be totally amazed.
I even have some doubts that he will be competitive during first half of the season, but hope that he will be a top rider during second half.
Who knows. I´ll keep my fingers crossed though!
Maybe he can get along with Biaggi well, and even get some help from his experiences in SBK.

its to do with the type of riding that goes on in WSB, mainly the passing maneuvres. quite often, the passes are very close and the riders/bikes touch, hence the "fairing bashing". WSB has much more of this action than moto gp has and this is why i think nakano might struggle. he could do well with a front row start and clear track etc but if he has to charge through from midfield or lower, then IMO he will not do it.

Ah! Thanks alot for the help, man! It helped alot, and sad to say, the thoughts about Nakano´s riding style, does make sense to me. I think he´l have problems adapting fast. Hopefully it can change during the season, but alas I wouldn´t take that for granted...

What are you talking about.... Shinya will kick Biaggi's butt just wait and see.

I like Shinya way more than I like Max, so I'd like to agree with you. But....
I think Max is a faster rider.
Nakano may have a better riding style, but in WSBK on an Aprillia Max will be quicker.

I hope I am wrong.
