<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>A satellite Ducati MotoGP ride is the latest rumoured destination for Max Biaggi in 2007, according to reports in the Spanish press.

The Italian, forced out of MotoGP at the end of last season following an acrimonious split with Honda - which also resulted in the downfall of the Pons team, through the loss of Camel sponsorship to Yamaha - has been linked to numerous MotoGP and World Superbike seats since the enforced end of his eight-year premier-class career.

A last minute WSBK ride seemed likely for this season, before negotiations with Alstare Suzuki broke down. Biaggi has now had plenty of time to sort a 2007 SBK seat, but his ability to attract sponsors and his race-winning experience could open the way for a MotoGP return.

With the Japanese factories unlikely to hire the hard-to-handle 42 times grand prix winner, the Ducati (and Italian) link would seem Max's best chance of a competitive ride. With the new 800cc machines being introduced next year, 2007 could also be a good time to be a satellite rider since the machine specification won't be far away from the factory bikes - at the start of the season anyway.

Biaggi's other GP options include a ride for one of the new teams intending to enter the championship, with the Ilmor/Suter project top of the list. Any such team would welcome Biaggi's experience, profile and commercial appeal but Max would need to accept that points rather than podiums are likely to be the initial target.

By contrast, a World Superbike move would offer the chance to fight at the front on leading machinery - but, as Alex Barros has discovered, victories are far from guaranteed...

35-year-old Biaggi is currently training in California, where he recently met pop star Christina Aguilera during a dinner with friends. Max, who says he has been jogging, cycling and riding his Super
moto machine, will visit the Summer X-Games at the end of this week.

My guess is that if Biaggi is to join a Ducati "satelite" team, it won't be d'Antin Ducati. Biaggi is smarter than to ride for such a poor team. Whatever he rides will be factory supported, on either Bridgestones or Michelins, well funded and relatively competitive.

Only last night having a quite tipple with friends at the local i brought up this subject and also discussd why Biaggi wasn't considered to stand in for Sete when he was injured, watching Hoffman at Donington, all of us could see that even though Loris was injured he was a lot better than a fit Hoffman.
Sete hasn't been bringing home results this season even before the crash why not try out Biaggi for 2007 on a factory Bike.

maybe the reputation and attitude of max isn't helping him to get a factory bike

Because Ducati doesn't want 2 whiners on their factory team..
Whaa whaa Gibernau and SuperMaxi Biaggi on the same squad..yikes

i say bring'm in!

.....just add more flavor to the mix next year...maybe we'll get to see some "fista cuffs" or a good old fashoned chokeing!

i'm in a agreement!! a bit of action between riders always goes down well. makes it a bit more tasty on the track when you know theres tension off it

I can’t see this happening. Yea at the start of season he would have the same equipment, but as the season rolls on…? Max would only take the A team, and I don’t think Ducati will make the mistake to put him there.

max on the factory ducati....... seem's pretty unlikely to me. loris & max.......... i can't see it. if he does return it seems more than likely it would be with 1 of the new team's. his experience would help alot there. a satilite team with ducs...... thats d'antin rite now & i can't see this either. unless pon's come's back with ducati machinery. i guess will find out soon enough!

That article was intresting, I`ve been wondering what Max has been up to these days. I can see it now, Preseason tests 2007 idle pit chat "Hey Vale, while you were losing the championship last year I was soaking up the sun in California and getting in Christina Agulera`s pants, now gimme my damn sponsor back"

Personally I think Max is out for good, it's time for new blood as some are finding out this year. Max is a good rider but he's just too old to have another go.

I agree........buuuuuuuuuuut, any team that signs Max for 07 with receive such a huge amount of publicity. Max is a sponsor magnet (for some reason?), he can bring much needed cash to a team.

I personally would like to see him back on teh grid, another twist in the motogp saga!

Don't get me wrong I'd like to see Max back to but in the past when the top guys leave they don't come back.

i'd love to see max the italian stallion back ... he was great to watch on and off track, and like u said ben, he'll add some flavour to the whole motogp thing!

next year will be brilliant ... 800's, and hopefully some old ego's back on track

IF d'Antín gets Bstones and 2007 spec Ducatis I don't see why wouldn't Biaggi come back.

And Biaggi is better than Cardoso.
