Hello,

I have only been to watch the GP in the UK at Silverstone. This year i will hopefully travel to a few European races. Any ideas on what the best track/races are to visit. Will be a weekend thing so will probably camp or get a hotel depending on what people recommend.

Cheers Don

Brno is great from what I hear, but that event is doubtful. The Mecca for most European events I believe is Mugello.

If they only place you have been is Silverstone, any other circuit will be a bonus. I've found general viewing there to be awful, though that isn't stopping me returning this year.
Always thought Donington was a better spectator's track and was disappointed when last year's gp was moved.

Doni is a superb spectators circuit, but in my opinion the racing is often ruined by the Melbourne loop - or 'car park section; as Lawson christened it.

The sight of bikes coming down Craner or going through the double at coppice though more than makes up for that section. The amount of track you can see from Coppice always impressed me.
Melbourne is really just there to bring the track to gp length and even then it seems quite short.

Silverstone was awesome :) I was luck enough to be there as a guest with the CAME team and had the best experience possible i think. I was just free to walk about the garages and watch the race from the pits.

I'd say forget about Aragón,
The viewing area is separated in pods or sections and you cannot move around outside your area.
No general admission roaming.

Valencia is one of my favorite as you can see just about everything from anywhere.
Stadium design is awesome.

My recommendation is the Circuit of Wales. Its spectacular, all the views are unobstructed. Its really unbelievable.

Aye rub it in Don. I dare say any track would be an awesome day out with the access you got. Try being one of us scaffs and you'll change your mind.;)

Me and the wife may plan one day to go to Mugello!! Take her to Italy ...florence and Tuscany :) Hoping it would be an amazing experience.

But, any thoughts on Saschenring in Germaney? We would love to go there as well

whats Austin like, guys please?

Austin the city is great. However, the track is away from the city so you'll have to either get shuttled out, taxi or drive. I stayed in SoCo & drove to the track early in the morning. I also got the ridiculous all inclusive ......... Paddock, food, everything. It was expensive, but for my first ever MotoGP race it was ....... awesome. Nothing like getting to the track & double fisting a beer in one hand & coffee in the other.

You get some great views of the track. Turn 15 made me extremely excited.

I liked Austin a lot, fell in love with the place. I'm actually thinking of moving there.

Party at Lil Sparrows nest!

Libby, Austin is college town so there are plenty of hot young babes everywhere. I loved that part. Everyone is friendly, drinks cost next to nothing.

The track is spectacular. Top international quality surface, wide, elevations, slow and fast bits. Plenty of viewing areas. If you've been to Silverstone, it's similar in the sense that it's a vast expanse to cover, so be prepared to walk, but it's worth it, plenty of interesting spots to watch. I recommend turn 1 to watch the race, it's elevated and you'll see the start, finish, and the first several turns.

The prices of admission is reasonable. I have no idea what the paddock access is like. There us a thread here on the social board of a meet up in 2013. I'm not sure how informative it is but I suppose it's worth a look at the last 10-15 pages.

Shovelhead has a great summary of his weekend. Arrabbiata1 and Willski can tell you about the joy of flying from England and the welcome they received in Chicago.

As for me I had the time of my life. My only regret is not finding Motochick. She PMed me, but just when I was about to meet her we gathered to meet Kropotkin, which is a whole other story.

for paddock, pit lane walk, multi-turn seats, track shuttle, full open bar all weekend & buffet (which food was ....... REALLLLLLY good & you got breakfast, lunch, snacks), clean bathrooms it was about $1200 a head.

but i was super thankful, because it did rain this past year, so i was able to hide under coverage. all that .... is right above the paddock, so you can look over the balcony on either side and look at both front & back of the garage area.

also, nice big screens to view the race.

^^btw – that's for austin.

This was only a one off for me and I was so pleased I got invited. CAME sell electric gates and one of my friends own a automation company and placed a large order. He was repaid by CAME with 2 free passes to spend the weekend with the team.

Was thinking of going to Valencia this year :)

Views of what? Oh, you mean the rain!

Personally, I'm hoping Indy is on for August, it's the weekend of my birthday and I'd get to see a race in the US of A, and meeting homies on here of course.

PAR........TEEE!
